I love the 200X for the fact I can ride all day on a tank of gas. How do the 2 strokes do on gas. If you were out on a long trail ride would you need to bring extra gas? Never owned or drove a two stroke (on land anyways).

I can't speak for the trikes because I do not have a 250R YET, but my KX500 can go through a tank of fuel in 45 minutes or less.

I like riding with 250r's when I have a 350X. We do the same amount of dune riding and the 2 stroke guys are always refueling and I have used 3inches from the top.

2-stroke is definitely going to go through fuel faster. My 250R gets refueled about 2 1/2 or 3 times as often as my boy's 350X. Like the old saying goes, "power costs money".

Some of that money goes toward feeding the beast.

I always have to stuff a few 32 oz gotorade bottles in my pack. Even then a real shift of riding is outa the question. Constant trail riding takin it fairly easy im guessin 3 hrs run time to a tank.

It depends on the state of tune. A regular 2 stroke 250 compared to a high revving modern 250F dirt bike motor, pretty similar. Compared to an older, slower turning smaller valved engine like a 350x, not even close. The pinger will scarf down the fuel. I've burnt a full tank in less than a half hour before in heavy riding.

I'm not sure if it's just the size of the tank on my 85 Tecate, but I can ride all day and still have a half tank at the end. The guys on the R's (Deepa, Jeff, Paul) usually fuel up once during the day.

Are the Tecates better on fuel that the R's or do they just have a bigger tank?

The '84-'85 Tecate does have a bigger tank...liquid R is 2.6 gallons and Tecate is 3.6 gallons....but fuel efficiency depends on a multitude of factors.

Strokes will eat more fuel.

Man 2 gallons on my tri-z gets me 50+ miles and I don't jet my bike unless I have to I bet I could get even better
