Hi guys, I feel like a noob, but I'm not positive how my case saver should be installed.
My 350X had a chain "cover?", but I didn't think it looked like it would "save my case" if the chain broke, so I ordered a case saver.
I assumed I could install the case saver along with my chain cover, but it doesn't appear so. Please have a look at the below picture and tell me if I'm missing something obvious:

I assume the case saver needs to be installed how I'm holding it, but I would have to remove the red chain cover because I can't attach them both. Am I missing something here, or will I indeed have to remove the red cover in order to install the case saver?
(The case saver is not threaded, so I would simply be removing the red case cover and replacing it with the case saver).

I don't own one of these(probably should) but it looks like you should remove the red chain guard. It goes in similar to how you are holding it, but the metal between your finger tips needs to slide in between the case and the chain. ( I think you might have to remove 2 bolts on the side case cover to attach).

yep... put that metal part you are holding inside the red cover, then bolt them up to the case

The case saver goes on thne the chain cover goes on over it, worst case is you might have to pull front sprocket off to get the case saver in.

you might have to pull front sprocket off to get the case saver in.
I didn't... just fished it from the bottom and it curved right in.

Thanks for the tips guys, I don't know what's wrong but I can't for the life of me get this thing on.
I tried as you suggested, but there doesn't seem to be any room between the case and the chain for me to slide this saver inbetween.
Does anyone happen to have any pictures of their case savers on their trike?

The case saver will not work if you have a larger front sprocket than stock. Stock is 13 teeth. If you try 14 teeth, you may get the saver to just barely squeeze in there, but the chain will rub on it under load and quickly wear through it (ask me how I know).
I had to pull my front sprocket in order to install this. It is a tight fit, but that is the point. You want the edge of the case saver very close (but not touching) the rollers down the middle of the chain.
Once the case saver is in place, position the outer chain cover in place and then install the two bolts (the same bolts hold both pieces at the same time).
One other possibility is that your case had been previously cracked and somebody JB Welded up the area to seal it back up, but took up all your free space for the case saver. That was the exact situation on mine. It was hard to tell without actually removing the side cover since people can really smooth down the JB weld and make it look clean.

Where did you order the Case Saver from, I am in need of one.
Thanks.
Gary.

Thanks Wonderboy, that helps and I'll give it a shot. It's a stock front sprocket, so I should be OK I guess.
Gary.H: This part is actually still available through your Honda dealer! At least for the 350X it is...
