About a year ago i had an idea of selling my immaculate and original honda atc 250r. Well the time came and off she went to someone who I thought would take care of her like I did, well to my surprise i just went on craigslist two weeks ago and saw she was for sale. I did not think much of it because Curtis guy I sold it to had listed it and when I called him on it I asked him about what we talked about I want it back if you sell it.
Now today I got home and I did my rounds on all my sites I look at and went on ebay and saw one part that I had put on my trike then another then another then reality sank in it was being parted. I don't have an issue with people parting bikes my issue is with people parting out nice complete bikes. Look I know times are tough but I know how much I took care of that thing all the hours and money that were used up on that trike. Nothing was sparred on that trike all OEM stuff was used but some parts that aren't made oem were aftermarket.
Suspension was rebuilt front and back front legs were even chromed engine was rebuilt im telling you nothing was sparred on that honda.
The reason I sold it was yes it was replaced with a trx 250r but I had good reason it was hard on my friends and family when their kids would ride it and they would fall on it at Glamis. I wasn't worried about the bike but broken bones and injuries that were sustained that caused me to sell it. That bike was made to be ridden not just sit in my garage and collect dust how I regret that now, believe me when I tell you when you go on ebay and type up atc 250r the guy thats parting it is cycleguy 1979 this bike was clean please take a look at it in pieces what a shame.
The seller has no blame on this unfortunate situation I want to call curtis to see what happened to selling it back to me well I know it's a machine but rest in piece 1985 honda atc 250r.

Dang that sucks to hear that your hard work is being parted. I don't like to part machines anymore but the reality is it does take others parting theirs for me to be able to restore mine.

Are these your parts? http://shop.ebay.com/cycleguy1979/m.html?_nkw=atc250r

i dont know how much he had in to it price wise. but few yrs back i tried to sell a complete fully functional 2001 blaster. started at 900 then down to 800 then 700 when i finally sold it for 600. sometimes its so hard to get what you need out of machines so parting it out might be the only way to recoup your cost. espically if there is no local market for it. if i had the time i prolly would have parted the blaster and fetched well over 900 for it over time. i had rebuilt motor and had only 30mins of ride time on it

i part out machines quite often, but the ones i get are all hill jacked up half the time with non running motors. anything i see thats rideable ill fix ride and sell later for atleast what i have in to it

I feel really bad for you, that totally sucks, but I will say this- If you were that concerned about the trike you would have never sold it in the first place. Shame on you. Yet another reason why when trikes land at Casa De Fabio, they have made their final destination.

Got the same policy newly enacted here. My place has officially became a 1-way door for 3-wheelers due to all the regrets from my selling too many great machines in the past.

I will tell you what you live and learn yes i do accept blame but again i understand the nature of the business but when it comes to complete nice bikes especially 1985 or 1986 atc 250r that takes to a whole different level.

Nice bikes make nice parts, sad but true. BUT it will keep many others alive,....kinda like cannibalism, I'd do it.

Note to DEEPA AND self, run like hell if we break down in the PA woods with a hungry Jeff along :D

All kidding aside, they bring more money, provide parts, and the parts get put to use!

Allot of us who buy parts RARELY allow them to leave our hands............

Dont worry DC, It would take almost a day for me to consider that as an option. If you see me chuckin rocks at squirels to roast over a fire, might not be a bad idea to tighten the laces on your boots
