the headlight assembly is bigger on the 86 's not sure if the guard will work or not but i do know that they look alot different between 85 and 86

I wouldn't be surprised if they fit all the 200dred X's...... BUT:

I can tell you this; The guards I handmade fit my 85 200X triples on my 250SX (along with 85/86 350X) fit perfect, but I had to modify the guard a bit to fit my 1986 200X triples. ALL of them cleared the headlight though.........

You can find them from 25-50$ so buy one you like and if you must, resell it.............. Or mod it to fit.

Just don't get a chrome one you can't heat and bend or weld to.

Not your bad at all..... They may not swap at all. I'd snag a used crappy one and see whats up myself (actually, I'd make my own guard )

I run 350X hdlts on all my trikes anyhow, I must have nearly 10 350X complete headlights from when the NOS ones were on EBAY.
I won a couple for 99$, couple for 150$ and some others cost 200$ but they were all NOS! AND I RUN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 350x headlight is the 2 light assembly right ? i thought of trying that on my 200x, the 350x lights just look tougher.

I should be getting one sometime this week. I bought one off ebay for like $12 shipped. It just needs to be sanded and repainted. From the pictures it looks like it will fit. Just has the 4 "arms" that stick out straight. Two bolt on top and two bolt on the bottom. Ill post back up here if it works or not.

^ Good deal!! :beer I can't even come close to competing with that and many other guards that are still kickin around.

Someday they'll run up dry, but for now, you guys seem to be getting them and who cares if they're beat up a bit?! The idea is merely to "protect" the headlight, looking sweet is secondary :D

Back in the day, HONDA and other manufacturers had tools and dies and stamped these out like butter. It's impossible to hand make these guards and get all the bends and dimensions "dead nuts" in less than a few hours without allot of practice. I could make some of the more simple guards in about an hour or so, but they won't be perfect and I won't sell anything that I wouldn't be happy with myself... Regardless they'd still protect the lamp! Thats whats most important..........

You should have seen it, I bent and measured and cut up crappy guards for a good day until I got them DOWN!! And it also reminds me how much I miss powder coating! The weather is getting good so I'm looking forward to it!

Anyhow, congrats on the new guard!! :beer The price sure was right and regardless of anything else, it will protect your headlight!
