any ideas why my sleeve is binding up in the carb ? its a stock carb on an 86 200x with a twist throttle , read some old posts wd-40 on the sleeve to fix the prob ? maybe my throttle cable is twisted causing the sleeve to bind up on the small lug inside the carb ? new carb ? any suggestions thanks

I'd remove the top from the carb, unhook the throttle cable from the throttle barrel and see if each independantly move smoothly. You will see there is a spring on top of the barrel that pushes it down. Something must be messed up. Look at the needle and see if something is awry there.

I agree. cable is cable. moves freely or it doesnt. Slide has 3 things go wrong: dirt, debris, fuel residue/carbon bits between slide and bore, jet needle binding as it goes into needle jet (needle going into its orifice) OR white nylon slide guide to slide groove is damaged somehow. I've seen em come loose/drop out/in on certain carbs. high hr units. Mike

thanks guys , is the spring mentioned the big spring right insied the carb ? cable seems ok slide/barrel just seems stuck , had this prob before , took it to the shop and had it fixed , not sure what they did though, thats why im my own mechanic now so i know exactly whats done w my machine. and i cant remember , does the barrel come as part of the carb assy. or throttle cable assy. carb right ? so a new carb shouldnt give me the same probs ?

The barrel is part of the carburetor and will come with a new one. You have to pull the barrel to hook up the throttle cable to it. Take it apart and figure out what's binding. You can do it on the trike. Probably best to remove the gas tank.
