A buddy and I went riding at one of the great OHV parks here in Iowa last Saturday. Sorry, I neglected to bring my camera, so no pics. We had a totally awesome time. The only thing I wouldn't do is the extreme hill climbs, which his Rancher did easily. I did a couple of them on his machine, but I only needed to roll my trike once on a hill climb to be wary of steep hills forever afterwards. I kept up pretty well most of the time. He said "I'm amazed that you can do what you can do on that thing", which was pretty cool to hear, especially since I don't put myself in the skilled rider category. He rode the 250SX a couple times, and he really enjoyed it, noting how much you have to use your weight to get it to go where you want. The first time he got on it, he asked "Does the steering actually DO anything?"
The real surprise came when we got back to the parking lot and raced back to the truck. It was probably about a 200 yard run, and when I passed the pickup, I was probably 10 yards ahead of him. He said he had a false start, and maybe he did, but I was still amazed that I did that well against that 420cc fuel-injected behemoth. I guess we should have repeated it a couple times to be sure, but if I had done that, I might not be able to come here and gloat!
