More or less finished up at the moment. I bought a moose lighting coil and it didnt work. Soooo looks like I gotta splurge and spend $435 on an e-line system for it in a week or two. I also plan on getting supermoto wheels for it at some time. Took it for its first rip through town,..passed lots of cars in a wheelie. This thing is a BLAST! Not retarded fast, but way more fun than a crotch rocket. I shoulda did this ten years ago. Figured this would make a few smiles with some of you and figured I'd share.

Nice! That thing looks positively evil!
That would do well on a motard track.
That Alarm System is the s**t!

Hate to disappooint you but E-Line doesn't make the 200W kit anymore for the CR500....haven't for a few years now.
Ricky Stator sold E-Line kits but haven't since supplys sold out.

You can try calling Kevin Hines @ E-Line but I think your outta luck.

Thanks for the link Maico, I called him up, hopefully he calls me back. I also called up service honda and talked to a guy that knows a thing or two. He told me their supplier was changing the design of them, sent them a prototype and it did not work. That was a year ago. The supplier was supposed to come up with something better that actually worked but they still havent heard anything back from them yet.

He also told me he gets atleast 3-4 calls a week about them, so Im not alone. Hopefully the supplier gets their ass in gear and starts pumping them out. Seems like a small gold mine with the demand.

I had someone register for the street in New Hampshire, there all that is required is a bill of sale on bikes 15 yrs and older. It can be done with newer stuff, but it takes a few extra weeks as it has to be done a different way. Easier than taking a dump in bed.

Jeff....any word back from the guy w/the 2 E-Line set-ups??

I called him up and left a message along with my number and have not heard back from him. I am gonna try and call him again tomm.

That stupid moose 35w lighting coil is a complete waste of money. I threw it away. So now all I have is a small battery nestled away in my airbox. It works for the led blinkers and tail light. Im not sure how long It will work on the headlight, prob not long at all.

One of these companies HAS to start making these things again, the demand seems quite high and im sure that a ton of them would be sold in the first year.

nice bike with a sweet alarm system

jeffatc250r

Struck out with the e-line setups, guy wont pick up or call back. Heres the deal, I got a lil batt stuffed in the airbox, it works awesome for my LED tail-brake and blinkers. I tried it out on the headlight tonight and got almost 45 mins outta it before it was noticibly dimmer. I bought a moose brand 35 watt lighting coil and it was a total POS It wouldnt even fit correctly and i ended up killing it and tossed it out. I see ricky stator makes a 25watter lighting coil, has anyone ever tried one? If it actually works, I would like to just wire it up for the headlight and keep the batt to run the other stuff. Chime in if you got one of them and let me know if it actually kicks out enough juice to run a headlight.

Other than the lighting B-S, this thing is so friggin fun it should be illegal. Even fifth will come up without touching clutch. Oh and one other issue that I am gonna have to address is the numb feet, gotta rubberise the pegs somehow someway.

Hey I might have a solution to the to the peg vibration problem surly couldn't hurt. I just google rubber dip and this is the first thing that popped up. Says it dampens vibrations. http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip also found this thing might interest you.http://www.servicehonda.com/parts/ignition.html

Thanks for tryin to help, the plastic dip isnt gonna amount to a pisshole in the snow, also I talked to a service Honda rep a cpl weeks ago about the lighting kits and its a no-go as of now.

Hey! If I swivel my hips I can make a big snow peehole! :D

Anyhow - I was thinking you need some fab work. I'd think limiting pins, larger holes and dense polyurethane between that allows some flex. Mounts and plates would have to be fabbed up or welded/changed etc. I think you know what I'm thinking anyhow.....

I can't believe a simple motor shop can't wind you an alternator or a wiring coil..... There's gotta be a way to do it.

Steve, you gots the right idea for sure. Just one of those things that will need an afternoon to do correctly. Not exactly sure how I want to do it yet, either way It's gonna require lopping off the old peg mounts and welding on new stuff. Im pretty sure the newer cbr pegs are rubberized and I thought about that as an option but I really like the wide dirt pegs that are currently on it.

Ive been way too busy riding this thing everywhere to really sit and brainstorm about it. Im hoping the rubberized pegs will regain my vision also. As of now everything is blurry when riding it, kinda like being in a car that has a couple 12 inch subs in the trunk cranked way up.

Words cant describe how fun this thing is on the street LEGALLY. But I have yet to have a harley homo wave to me, so now I just stand it up when I see a group of em coming the other way, my way of saying up yours ya snobby pricks.

Maico, how do you find these things?! I look daily and always come up empty handed. Your like a bloodhound! I will try calling him again in a lil bit and try to persuade him to ship it, that is if I can get ahold of him.

I actually drew them up last night - well, my thoughts anyhow yet keeping it simple.......

But me being a PC moron, I do not have my printer drivers installed and I couldn't scan it for some F'd up reason :(

I'll work on it, the drawing was like a 10yo did it anyhow,

Wow Steve, thanks a ton for lookin out for me, truely appreciate it. As far as the drawings being bad is concerned, your talking to a guy that signs his checks with a friggin blue lumber crayon!

I mounted my camera to the bars for a lil scoot up the road. Its sunday and everyones home, so I didnt want to be too much of a dick with the wheelies. Its pretty blurry I know, I need to get a gopro......been saying that for way too long. But you get the general idea

An idea similar to this:

I hope it shows up, I had issues with Windows7 and my HP 6310.....

Poly back might be .250

Poly bushing may be .3125-.375 wall thickness.

New mounts might be .3125-.375 thick.

Collars and spacer just need to be thick enough to as not squash when the bolt is tightened, and or machined OAL to accept a pin and still pivot........

05-22-2010, 03:14 PM
Steve! That will def make my feet happy. What do I have to do to gt a set made up? I have a spare set of pegs, and also a junk frame that I can cut up and send the pieces where the peg mounts up to. Or is this something where you want the whole bike?

Maico, as much as I really appreciate the bloodhound work, I simply dont have the extra $400 at the moment. Had to spend a bunch of money on something I didnt want to. So It will be a cpl weeks before I'm back to par. I will get in contact with you then.

Hey, thats only my INITIAL thought, I have many more tricks up my sleeve :D

Being an industrial mechanic/machinist for 11 years in charge of preventing "future failures" forced me to think up dozens of ways to improve the high speed machinery.

Everything the plant engineer dreamed up failed  and then the operators would wait for Saturday to say "Steve, will you please fix my machine" :)

It won't be an easy task, would be great to use some of the existing peg but that may be impossible. I'm pretty sure I could use the backing plate though.......

Thing is, if I can come up with something I may get some sales from the CR500 guys and they can be adapted to any situation. Solid, pivot, spring etc etc.

I would need the whole bike so the angles/heights were to your liking.

If it works well, the cost goes down because I would make 25 at a time..............
