I put on my fenders but there is some extra hardware for a support wire. I see where to put the bracket on the fender but what is it supposed to connect to or support? Anyone have any idea?

I ran into the same problem when I bought my fenders from Maier. I trashed the wire thing and made my own. On the front mount the brace had a hole on either side and was about an inch away from the fender. I bent the brace so it would match the contour of the fender. Then I got some pieces of 1 inch rubber and put between the fender and bracket. Went to the hardware store and bought 2 chrome pan head bolts. I drilled down thru the fender and bolted it together using lock nuts so it would stay tight and not mess up the fender. It holds really nice and looks good too.

try and get a service manual , they are a little more informative than the owners manual there should be a diagram in there good luck

the lower fender support mounts to the frame and then you use the L brackets and hardware where you drill a hole in each side of fender to mount solid. Have to drill a hole where each L bracket and wire end lines up then use the hardware to attach fender to bracket. I have an original with instructions. I will try to post a pic.
