So the first picture is how the main fuse looked when I got this 85 Big Red. It's not right, so I wanted to swap it out with another one we have- the second picture.
It doesn't look right to me, shouldn't there be a buss fuse in there? Did someone hack this together?

Nope. That first picture is hacked. The second one is just how my 85 Big Red had in it. I bought a BUSS fuse & holder and just spliced it in. If you want it to be original, your second picture is the way it should be. You shouldn't plug the spades directly into the fuse like your first pic. A BUSS fuse holder with a couple of pigtails on it (so you can splice it in) is only a couple of bucks. You can even find them at Wal-Mart. I like it better than the original. It makes a cleaner setup but if it's originality you want, yah your second pic it right.

I should have been more clear, I know the first one is hacked, but the second one is right? A blue wire instead of a fuse? Think I'm going to do what you did, splice in a buss fuse holder.

In the second picture that blue wire should not be there. There is a flat metal fuse that goes there. You can still get them from Honda. Maybe somebody will post a like to a picture showing the correct fuse.

Thanks MonroeMike, may have to make a stop at the Honda shop, if I can find one local. If not, buss fuss it is.
Edit: Honda shop located about 5 miles from work, part is 93 cents.

I put in a buss blade on mine... I like knowing I could grab a replacement at the gas station or out of the fuse panel on my jeep... (but thats just me)

I guess they felt the blue wire was a thinner gauge and it would melt (like a fuse) before anything else did....
But, thats not the case. The blue wire looks to be larger than 16 gauge which carries 15 amps but it's not designed to fail like the one Mike posted.
I had a quad here awhile ago, he had a 30 or so amp fuse in there, it called for 15. I said "why did you use such a large fuse?" he said "it kept blowing" I explained that when stock fuses blow, there is an issue somewhere that has to be fixed.
You can use any fuse holder you wish as long as it's the proper amperage and in your 1st pic, covered in electrical tape!

Sorry for any confusion. I didn't see that blue wire where the fuse should be in the second pic. The actual fuse is like the one in the above pic. The BUSS fuse/holder works GREAT unless you want originality, with the correct AMP rating of course.
