bought me a real clean 2001 kx500 yesterday, fmf gnarly pipe, new brakes and tires, plus a new extra rear , and stand. 1 1/8 fat bars, oem plastic still, and black excel rims. got it for $1000 with the title. might try to get someone here to get my pics up....

Awesome! I always have my eye out for kx500's. They seem to be few and far between for sale around here. When I find one for sale they want way more than I can pay. $1000 is a great deal.

Nice! Got yourself a good deal on that pig. Is that a laguna-cross spare rear? Those things can throw some debris! I once cought a potato-sized rock in the chest when I was younger from following to close to a cr-5 with one of them things on the rear. Congrats on the mean green

the title i have says 2001, i noticed the stickers look like an older one,as does the seat like a 1991, but the frame matches the title, and the engine case matches the frame and title

The blue forks came on the 89-93 bikes. Its still real clean and great shape no matter what year it is.

Whats the vin on the motor? I got the clymer manual right here on my desk to tell what year it is.

your just got 01 parts swaped onto a 93, 93 was the last year for the wide front fender also. i had a 93 KX250 in the same colors. either way its nice.

Wasn't 90 the first year for the full sized bikes gitting usd's... Early ones has the green frame too. Everything in the 2000's had silver/gray frame color i believe. But some mid 90's had some green too. I have lots of m/x mags from late 80's early 90's. M/x controlled my life in those days. 500's on the track are alot of work. After riding a crisp 500 bike, you'll never look at a 500QR the same.

Yes, just checked and 90 was the first year for usd fork for the big Kawi's. I was thinking of my CR5 which was 89. I have a 2001 KX5 and it has the green frame, on the final years they had silver frame and black tank too.

you got one heck of a deal considering its in good shape. The K-5 is a great bike, it may feel dated on a motocross track but the dessert is still the dessert and out there it is still a competitive race machine.

vin is jkakxve121a00063. just because it may have an older seat cover, or a 1993 fender on please dont guess the year, i have the title in hand,motor matches.... the old owner may have liked the seat cover or the older side stickers . i have seen 1985 atc 250r's with 1986 "atc" seat covers and the larger headlight and you might think its an 86,, but by the vin its an 1985.. im going to enjoy it as an 2001, and nothing more, peace...
