Alright goning to say i'm new. Had mine for months and just now bought a battery, she worked for a few hours now wont start.
with key on will not display neutral any more, and as well wont kick/electric start either, can turn on the head light on and off though. i can jump the starter solenoid and will crank over, but no fire.
my problem may be in the key switch for the ignition circuit. but i'm lost of where to start looking. i could use a electrical diagram.
If it helps my reverse light stopped working some time ago, is it common that the6 wires from the transmission have a spot they all rub through at? i imagine the three circuits are the netural, reverse indicators and the crank position

funny, just had the same issue with my BR. the battery got fried, put it on the charger to start it and had nothing but the headlight. I went throught the wiring diagram here, (there is no easy access to anything on that bike) then went out to get a new battery. Since it was running like a top prior, I couldnt figure it out. Put the new battery in and while waiting, started messin with the H/L/R lever. Now i cant get the damn thing to go into R. So now, after parking a perfectly good bike I had both an electric issue and a tranny issue? I jacked up the rear and started running through the gears, pullin on the wheels etc. Then I got a clunk, was able to shift into R and low and behold, on came the neutral light. What I thought was neutral, wasnt I guess, tho it rolled easy..wierd..Poof it started right up. So in the end, I was stuck or bound between gears, that is all it was. From this I learned 3 things,
1) there is a diagram on the homepage of this site
2) dont overcharge your battery
3) there is some form of interlock on this bike, that if you cant get into neutral or, if the sending unit is bad, you will lose the ability to start it

alright this problem is intermittent, i found i was able to kick start it. wiggled the wiring harness around the fuel tank and the neutral light blinked on and off, so i may be cutting some wires out.
I'll keep this thread for how i'm able to do the finishing fix, and it may be something with the switches in the trans, but i'll find out.

wire wiggle is a good sign, gives u an idea of what to chase!

got a look at the diagram. gona start this afternoon looking for 12v at the indicator blulbs, then ground the wires at the connector 8" from trans to see if works, and switches for ohm to ground when in neutral and reverse. if I have voltage and ground at the right times then it's time to run 2 new wires.

Found it. The two connections for reverse and neutral have opened up and fell off I closed them back down and hope for a few more months before needing replacement.
