Hey,
I know this is a question not about a trike however it is a small motor and i need some advice.
It is a 4-stroke 50cc motor scooter, and I just performed my first oil change and afterwards I was reading the manual and it says to put 15w-40 in it. however I just put in 10w-40.
Will this negatively affect it? Should I drain it and put the 15-40 in it?

Shouldn't have any negative effect. The low number is the cold viscosity equivalent, and a lower number does no harm in that setting. It means the oil is more fluid at low temps than 15W. Even 5W in the lower number would be fine, it simply pours better when cold and offers less resistance to flow when cold. The high number is how viscous or thick it remains when hot. If they call for 40W, don't go lower because they are counting on it being that thick when warm. So 10W-40 is not problem in place of 15W-40, but not the other way around. You can go lower on the low number or higher on the high number, but not the other way around. VW for instance has had many engine failures where people used 10W-30 in place of the recommened 5W-30. It probably caused poor lubrication at cold temperatures when they wanted the oil to be more fluid.
