Got it this morning for $1150. Was the one posted in the ATV Classifieds. Did some tinkering with it. Took a link out of the chain and tightened it, shop vaccumed the mouse nest out of air box, put in a new plug, tightened a few loose bolts, the rear of the airbox- carb boot was half on/ half off so I got a new clamp and fixed that problem. All in all pretty happy. This is my first 2-stroke 3-wheeler and all i can say is WOW, these things are alot faster than any 4 stroke! It also has a Phase Five silencer on it, it sounds awesome. I love the look of these.

Congrats, the Tri-Z's are easily one of the best looking trikes out there.

I know its not as fast as a 250r or a Tecate but its good enough for me for awhile. Better than the 1982 ATC200 I had about 2 months ago.

Thanks man^^^. Does anyone know how much extra power, if any, the Phase Five silencer adds? Should it be re-jetted for that?

Congrats on a really nice Z!
A 6-speed '86 Tri-Z is nothing to sneeze at. I miss mine that I got new out of the crate back in '87.
I also enjoyed reading your reaction to your first taste of 2-stroke power. Reminds me of the surprise I got with my first 2-stroke....a well built and ported '85 250R when I was 13 back in 1986. I rode it half a day without ever getting "on the pipe"...no joke. It was ported for top end power, so it was sluggish at even half throttle if you weren't revving it.
I thought something was wrong with it....easing it around like my previous 4-strokes the R felt dead.
Until I got sick of it and decided to wind it out. On pavement....in about 4th gear. The power hit, and I nearly lost it. Talk about a rush!

That's a good story Plowboy, for a second there I felt like I was 13 in 1985 and just got off my '84 ATC 110 to ride my frineds new '85 YZ 80. That was my 1st experience on a 2 stroke. And when that powerband kicked in I thought that bike could go a 1000 miles an hour, or at least it sure felt like that.
Congrats on a really nice Z!

Im 26 and this is my first time riding a 2 stroke 3-wheeler. Ive got a pretty fast snowmobile but it doesnt lift the front end like this does, totally different speed. I had a KDX175 dirtbike as a kid and a Yamaha XT550 that was pretty fast but not as fast as this. It seems to wind out the gears real fast, like youre in 3rd gear in about 50 yards. Is that normal?
