If u have spark compression and gas it should run unless the timing is off. Take off the cdi cover and the timing mark window plug. Find the mark that says F... this is the fire mark and the cdi rotor should be perfectly up. If that is good pull the cdi and rotor and remove the plate covering the cam gear. There is a circle on it that will line up with the top of the engine when the T mark (just after the F) is lined up in the veiw window... if that is good remove your valve cover and check the cam. On mine the cam was so rounded it was barely opening the valves. If The timing is off, loosen the chain and walk it over the teeth till it lines up. Also check trailprotrailpro valve lash (.002) and trailprotrailpro cdi to rotor clearance (.012-.015) with a feeler guage... good luck

If its got spark, can you tell if any fuel is making it to the cylinder? Can you smell gas on the plug? Out the exhaust? Have you tried priming it with a little fuel in the spark plug hole?

Your only in West Seneca? Toss it in your truck, and bring it out here, Ill take you over to Phils, of everyone I know, he is the best at trouble shooting and repair (properly welded a hole-in-the-head problem of mine flawlessly and complete success. He will be here at my house Saturday as a bunch of us are getting together for a day ride. I am sure he would be more than happy to have a peak at it. (I am in Attica, 25 minutes down Rte 20, east bound)

Does any one have any advise on changing out a thrust bearing for a 200x? Have heard that spliting the main case is about the only way to go on this. The whole engin is great, fires right up when push started but cant do that in the sand! Not to interested in pulling compleatly appart is there any one out there that could offer some tips on the best way to do so? Don't want to mess with nothing but the thrust bearing issue.

there are some extremely knowledgeable folks on this forum, they might be able to offer some advice BrotherHeed.

Let me know on coming out this way. If your able to work it out, I will have Phil get here an hour or so earlier, and with all and any luck you may be able to try it out on our trails here. (Lots of them) I will send you a site PM with my number in it, gimme a call I will gladly get you directions.

o well then sounds like a broken wire on the inside my polaris scrambler had a broken stator wire looked brandnew on out side completley shredded on inside... helped when you moved it around then it started but than baack to no spark... i would get a wire tester and check your wires

yeah i took of the cover plate for the flywheel/ stator and there was a decent amountof oil in there not alot but there was some. and the ends on the stator were coverd in lik gray oil mayb that would cut some of the spark

yamaha driver
07-27-2011, 11:58 PM
im not positive but i dont think there should be oil in there lol i could be wrong but most i know it should be dry i would give it a good dry wipe it then mabey put a fan on it lol all 3 wheelers i had/worked on there should be no oil in there or it wont help your stator any :)

ant_macl

get a $10 meter and download the manual, the pulsar coil should be around 90 ohms, the pri coil in the engine should be 100 to 300 I think, mine was 142, the gap at the pulsar is important .012 to .016, I set mine in at .014, the spark plug coil is usually good, very reliable, cut off about 1/4" off the end of your high tension lead, and re-screw the spark plug cap back in, get a new plug, remove and clean the frame where your spark plug coil mounts, get a good ground, like yamaha driver said, the stator is by far the weak coil in the circuit. unplug the wire to your kill switch, if its grounding that will mess you up. That should keep you busy for a while!!

ant_macl
07-28-2011, 11:42 AM
i did all that... when i unplug the kill switch.
should i connect anywires and se if that works? i did sand the spot where coil mounts
new plug and wire
