First post here. Great site you fellas got. Just purchased a 84 200es big red with shaft drive and reverse. When I checked the final drive oil it has what looks like 80 weight oil and ATF fluid. I noticed that under the seat it is coming out the breather hose because the ATF is bubbling up. I am guessing (hope) the previous owner ran out of gear oil and just topped it off with ATF. There is no problem shifting gears and I will drain it out and replace with Mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 (owners manual reads 80w). This is my first 3 wheeler and am wondering if there was another reason someone would add ATF to the final drive.

ATF absorbs water, maybe he had a submarine type issue??
