I wanted to have this done for my son's Birthday. I have gotten behind and wont make that deadline but hopefully it will be done in a week or 2 at the most.
Here is what I started with: 1985 Honda ATC250R (BONE STOCK)

The swingarm bolt didn't want to come out after 25years so I had to cut it out. I got a replacement in stainless steel from Yamahondaman. Thanks Ronnie:welcome:

I still have a lot to do, but here is where I am at today. I still need to powdercoat the swing arm, stator cover and some other things but I am liking the way it's looking. Going to go with a redbull theme because it's a Honda so you know it allready has wings!:naughty:

So far it is pretty much still a stock '85 250r. I put a fresh top end on it- Thanks Sam and Jake! Put an '86 carb on it for better throttle response- Thanks Kasey! I have a Paul Turner "woods" pipe for it- Thanks MagicJames! I am ordering a new 22" front tire and I have 18" fast trekkers for MX and a set of stock 400ex tires on the old gold rims for the trails. I still plan on getting some v-force reeds for it, and some progressive springs for the front forks. That's all of the performance mods for now. MaMa's boy hasn't had much saddle time on this machine so I don't want to overwhelm him with power, but I have talked with Jason Hall and we have plans for the future. To be continued

Is the framed painted or powder coated? If you don't mind me asking, about how much did you pay to have it done? (unless of course you did it yourself.)

Well I know I will get a lot of flak for this but I painted the frame. I originally intended on powder coating it but I ran into a lot of other expenses along the way that took my project over budget and I had to cut cost somewhere. The exact same color is available in powder (translucent blue)and for the local shop it was going to cost $200.00 The smaller parts will be powder coated out at atcsams in the "race oven" but the oven won't fit a frame.

Nothing at all wrong with a painted frame...it actually makes things easier! My current frame is powder coated.....not the next one! Its looking great.....see ya at TF!

Lol, i forgot that i traded you that pipe. Let me know how it works out for you. I'm curious as to how it performs.
Oh yeah, the build looks nice and the red bull cans are a nice touch. Are those zip tied in or are they pinched underneath the triple trees?

It was the silver "base" coat for the frame. It was Krylon"Xmetal" .
Thanks everyone for the positive remarks. I was really nervous about starting this thread. I don't really appreciate criticism much. I did my best with what I had to do it with and my son is super stoked about it so it all pays off for me. To have some of you guys appreciate it is just the icing on the cake. It is alot of work to tear one of these completely down and put it back together right. After 25 years of abuse I found a lot of incorrect bolts and things that were not right. A lot of things don't like to come apart after 25 years and can be a huge headache. My hats off to anybody that tears one of these down and gets it back together to ride it again.
My son rode it today for a couple of hours and I am pleased to say that all is well. I need to get some locktite because some of the Stainless steel bolts came loose riding it, but everything else is great and it will get the snot beat out of it at trikefest!

The foot pegs are from a 450r welded to the stock 250r brackets.

Thanks guys! Yep the bike ran great once we got the carb dialed in. It's still a tad bit rich but performs with more power than used so I will leave it like it is. The only issues we had other than that was that a few nuts and bolts loosened up. so we locktited and retightened.
Ordering a Red bull graphics kit to finish it off. I will post pictures after it is installed.
Here are some pictures of it in action!

How did it perform with that pipe on there?
Have a safe 4th of July!

I judged it like this: Corbin raced Brandon Hall in the MX and the drags. In the drags he lost by about a wheel, and he raced well in the mx too against him. Brandon and Corbin are both very good riders and I know that Jason Hall makes the fastest trikes out there. So I think that the trike is running pretty darn good. That pipe makes some huge power out of the hole!
