What is this hole (about 1/4", located just below the intake) for? Crankcase vent? What do I need to do with it?

I do believe that is a crankcase vent...if memory serves, mine has an elbow fitting and a vent tube running up and out from there...

And if I may ask...what the H E double hockey sticks is that mess around your front sprocket? It looks like steel mesh type stuff...:wondering

Where does the vent tube run to?

That is my chain guard (expanded steel).

yes its a elbowed tee for a vent tube...
