The carb itseft is pretty simple as far as Carbs go. Getting it on and off is the hardest part. Just make sure the fuel enricher cable is put back where it is supposed to be with no sharp kinks in it and you should be ok.

Ever cleaned your SX carb?
It's the exact same one.
With the help of the manual, it's a piece of cake, in my case at least.

its not too bad once you tear it off if its really in bad shape i have even taken any plastic off and soaked the carbs in engine degreaser or something to that effect. it worked great then i just sprayed all the excess off with carb cleaner spray.

I've got 2 on the kitchen table right now. side cover has a simple slip on throttle cable cam thing...self explanitory.
as I recall, go easy on the choke cable. Loosen the plastic and spray pb blaster in there so the enrichment slide comes out..THE biggest pain. That way the choke cable etc can stay on the trike.
If that comes off, the rest is typical..hoses, clamps etc
I had mine out and sprayed and lubed at the thing had seen so many solvents and lubes over the years it was like it got soaked in maple syrup.
Someone else may say no and for good reasons but since it was virtually terminal anyway, I boiled some water with lemon juice and vinegar, took it off the heat and dropped in the carb to soak.
Magical results and everything moved freely.
I was also able to blow some air into the all the jets AND passages and actually see that bubbles were coming out.
There is one screw in jet that has anOTHER tube under it, hooked it with a dental pick and it came out crusty....emulsion tube, I think its called.
Just vecause the jets are clean, doesnt mean the passages are so spray/blow thru those too.
If you have an early 85, there is a pressed in jet that has its own set of weirdness. it feeds the choke slide for cold start and it was a factory recall for cold start issues.
my 2 are still off the trikes because I haven't found the fix yet.
some say drill 'em out, but can't find the actual drill size and some say find the old factory fix kits. from 20+ years ago.
keihin is no help that I could find.
Shindy makes a kit but the new cold start press in jet hole is HUGE as opposed to a .010" guitar string
hopefully yours did NOT have a cold start ( kick 20 times) and you can simply proceed with cleaning.
I now drip mystery oil down my choke cable periodically to lube that silly little choke enrichment plunger

Been looking for that bulletin.
Thanks
The shindy kit press in jet would easily fit a coffee stir straw and can easily read a newspaper thru it...and the orig cold start prob jet is TINY like 8 or 10 thousandths
someone said westerhills honda still has the honda kits but the post was from windsor canada so no idea where w.h.homda might be
someone else said the shindy kits work but I'm too chicken since that jet is so vastly different and will easily take a pencil lead up to the wood, as opposed to the smallest guitar string or acupuncture needle.
