My 185s had the foot brake broken clean off the frame by previous owner.I noticed the frame seems weak right around that area with a couple rust holes...any advice on welding a repair is appreciated.Would I be better off to find another frame or pay for the welding work?

I think I'd assess the overall condition of the frame vs the cost of getting a less rusty replacement. When it comes to welding and repairing, anything is possible, its just a question of whether its worth it if there are other rusty area.

yeah..frame is excellent except for about 3"...almost to the engine....seems like I would have to dis-assemble anyways to do a good job.

I guess see what you can find for a replacement frame and how cheap. Do you know someone that can do the welding if you decide to repair it?

Must be a common issue, my Big Red has a chunk of frame missing where the foot brake once mounted. Ive been thinking of buying an ebay frame and then building a 2 wheeled big red out of my old frame.

Allot of those "stamped" box frames have a tendency to rot out pretty bad. Leaves and mud get trapped in there...............
