Just the other day my buddy lost his BR250 over this hill. Yikes. Glad I wasn't there to watch. Made it right to the top, and started spinning out. Jumped off to slowly roll it back down, but lost grip, and she tumbled all the way down. In case you can't see in the pic, there are some very large boulders at the bottom of that hill. This is the biggest around here. We call it the bowl. I'll have some pics of the bike tomorrow. Not as bad as you may think. So do any of you guys have some good / bad hill climbing stories.
BTW: this is way steeper than it looks. I tried a couple times. The most I get is 1 trike length from the top.

i was climbing a good size hill with my restored 250sx, 10 ft from the top it spun the right hub sop it hooked a hard right. i should have bailed but tried to save the trike. needless to say we bounced and rolled 50 ft down off trees and rocks that was 4 weeks ago and i still have bruises and roadrash. i drove the trike out of the woods to my truck.

Cattle-dog, How bad did it mess up your sx? It looked pretty nice before.

That gives a lot better perspective on how steep it is than the front on shot of video. I've gotten stuck and dug in part way up a sand hill and it was precarious getting my trike back down.

yeah, my riding buddy went up first and there wasnt enough room at the top to park two Trikes. Guess what #2 did? SHEEAT!

the sx is still extremely nice it bent a rear fender brace which was a easy fix and handle bars moved. if you had been there and had seen my self and the sx bouncing off trees and rocks you would have thought it was totaled but it was lucky as was i, i suffered far more damage with giant bruises and road rash, i built the sx to ride and i put it threw its paces and she allways takes me home. there are times its hard to tell its candy blue and white. i ride them no matter how nice i build them.

I was doing a hill climb last year with chris200x. On the third time up I broke my chain. Tried to grab the brakes and slowly take my x down the hill, but that didnt work. Trike rolled down backwards then flipped over. The front fender was trashed and the bars were bent bad. To make matters worse it was getting dark out and we were about an hour+ from the trucks.

I would tried to clime that.. my biggest fear is to loose momentum and spin out... speed is your friend. It depends on the size of the person.. the 250 big red just dont have enough ballz to clime steep hills like the one posted in the first post. i mean you have to have speed and to do that you have to be in high gear.. and just no torque there.. At lease not for my big 260lb body.

One time I was about 13 on a Honda ATC70, was going up a hill, started to stall (never ran right), I thought I was in first but was in second so I downshifted and went right over. I was fine, just broke the brake handle on the atc.
The one other time I was trying to climb a creek bank on a Bayou 220 ATV, started to spin out, slid down the bank and the tires grabbed on the bottom. ATV didn't flip but I went ass first in the creek.

I don't have a trike hill climb story but I sure have plenty of dirt bike hill climb stories... When I first got my KX250F (I was about 15) I felt invisible and went to climb the mud hills in Ocotillo.... Got about half way up on one of the medium difficulty trails and went to down shift. Down shifted from 2nd to neutral then I tried to correct real fast but popped the clutch in the process. Bike pulled up in a wheelie and decided to lay on top of me haha! Glad that it just slid a few feet away from me though, woulda sucked to total bike on the first time out! Thank god for ASV levers LOL!
Cox seen me flip the 110 over about a month ago:lol: Didnt quite have enough power with a bad valve....and no front brakes on a 110! Not bad...but pretty funny considering the size of the hill....

Is it a good strategy when running up a tall sand hill, to just chicken out and do a U turn back down when you start to sense you are losing the battle?

Anyone able to climb hills using more torque than just speed? I'm wondering how my 376cc big red torque machine will do on hills.....

Ive tossed em over my head, to the side, had them land on my back, rolled backwards, and if i was lucky ended up in the ditch to the side after rolling er sliding down the hill with the front brakes locked leaned over the front of the bike, trike, or qaud. all great times looking back!

I rolled my 350X real bad on the last ride I hosted. It was nasty - I had to replace my front forks as they both got banana'ed. This was about a 70' roll - not pretty at all!
