I have a 87 big red with a blown fork seal. I have turned a wrench before (rebuilt a few chevy 350s etc) but wondering what I am getting into before I start. Honda shop said 180 bucks labor plus parts. Is it very hard, do I need any special tools? Any help is appreciated!

Super easy... Just did my 85 BR a few weeks ago... If you have a leather glove, (to protect the fork lower in the vise) a small flat screw driver, and metric allen wrenches, you are good to go... Used these seals, have worked very well, and I have been known to wheelie the crap out of my BR....

BTW... Here is the service manual if you need it...

Great info! I will get to it! Thanks for the links. I have new fork boots
to put on so I will just hit it all at once!

I used ATF in my forks as the manual said, and it seems to be working quite well....

Are the ATF Honda parts? I'm tryin to stay all original good bad or otherwise. If they aren't what are the pros and cons?
