Backfire

My YTM200 is having big time issues with encountering resistance. If I'm in the wrong gear or going too slow, it starts to miss and then the backfiring commences. you can instantly feel the loss of power. I only weigh 135, so it's not me. this thing is unable to take in as much fuel as it did a little while ago, it seems. would there be cams i need to adjust?

most of the time a backfire is a lean condition(not enough fuel).if that is the case i would say that your carb is clogged.take it apart and clean well and reset all your settings to stock.you should be able to find a downloadable version in the world class help area.

If it is backfiring through the exhaust, you need to adjust you exhaust valve clearance(gap). If it backfiring through the carb you need to adjust the intake valve. It is typically 2-3 thousandths clearance. However, I am sure you can find the exact clearance for that machine on here. How are the baffles in the exhaust? If they are plugged up that could be it as well.
In all my experience of backfiring problems I adjust the valves or lay off the beans!!!!!
