I went up to Black River Falls this past weekeng to do some trailriding. I was a little nervous, got done restoring my first geaneration 200x a couple months ago and only have putted in the yard
Trailriding kicks ass!!! We put 70 miles on Saturday. A couple short breaks but all riding. Fifth gear most of the time flat out balls to the walls. I had to try to keep up with a snotty Kawi 400 and a z400. My buds on the Grizzlies followed . Sunday morning I'm up and tryin to get another quick ride in but everyone was sore. So I says f all yous sallies and I go get in a couple miles before we had to go.
The x ran like a champ the whole time. Never missed a beat. Well, I guess it missed one, that is being a bit underpowered for me. Now I definately have to start looking for an R or 350x. I never saw another trike the whole weekend. Lots a questions and comments from other riders. They were amazed at what it would go through. The Kawi and z400 got stuck in spots, haha, I went through and was never nice about mud roosts. All in good fun.
Got some pics, not much from riding cause I was too busy givin er da beans.
My x before I left home

We stopped here a couple miles in. Wanted to see if I was okay with the pace. I said when they can't see me for a while, that's top speed for me.

Next time I will have a mount made for my camera to go on my bars. Pics and video on demand. Plus my buddy says he has a helmet cam. Gonna call him on that one.
So who wants to trade a liquid R or 350z for my 200x, the one I have in pieces and my 200s?

That is exactly how I felt after my first couple of trail rides on my old 200x! They are fun little trikes but once you really put them through the paces you realize you need a 350X. The 350X is the best trike I've ever owned, they are beasts and especially on the trails!

Ya, I think I pretty much gave that poor x all it had and then some. But it liked it. It was a blast. I'm gonna ride the bejesus out of it on the lake this winter. Now I need more power.

Ya got my heart beatin'! I know that's a total blast. 200x's are comfy, but for children and a good beginner trike. Now that you want more go for it as soon as possible. Because mtsnieg you will break it. Once you know you want more you'll push that little trike, and it will give all it's got, but it will break. (this is the third motor on mine) Great pictures, and great job breakin' the rebuild in like a champ!, little time and soap and water.

This is hands down the most absurd thing I've read on here. I wish I lived in a fantasy world where 185s trikes with NO suspension beat 400EX's lol. I've owned both and know that is 100% not true. It is possible to beat a 400EX in a straight line with lots of engine mods but not on trails man.

The cabin we stayed at is 20 miles east of Black River Falls. 200 yards out the back yard is the trail. There has to be a cdouple hundred miles of public trails.
Now I know a 400ex isn't the fasted quad out there, but I'm prety sure i could woop a 185s with one, even my buddies worn out one, on a bad day too.

Lol that trail was a smooth well groomed trail, here's me riding Divide Peak on my 350X I bet you'd have a fun time on it with your 185s haha. And I don't care what you say man, you can't beat a 400EX on a trail, and I mean a real trail with rocks, bumps, cliffs, hill climbs, logs to go over, creeks, etc. And I agree the rider makes a big difference but not in this case, you are talking about an almost 30 year old machine with half the power and no suspension beating a good newish quad with double the power and suspension.
thanks bro haha

Yea you could definitely have fun but wouldn't have any fun trying to beat a 350x or a 400ex cause you'd be losing. I loved my 185s btw, it was a great little trike but it had balloon tires and no suspension, it wasn't gonna be going very fast over Divide at all.

i will agree, 185s are much lighter and more powerful and just all around better than a 400ex. i think i saw some of the guys use 185s in the GNCC series against all the 450s too.
they are basically half god half trike.

dude, the 185s cannot and will not be able to keep up with a 400ex in any trail condition. The only way a rider on a 185s could keep up, is if the rider on the 400ex was paraplegic and also missing a arm.. 8-12hp(if that) can keep up with 25hp+..right...

There is no way I could keep up with anyone on my 200s hardtail. No effing way. I'd be ass over tea kettle faster than a fart leaving a bottle. Trails would have to be like glass.

I just got the 20" Holeshots. They worked quite well. I have to re-gear. I lost noticable top end switching from a 22' rear tire.
