View Full Version : 1982 200E big red No Spark
We have a 1982 Honda 200E Big red that has lost its Spark, this has been a very dependable machine until now. We have checked the Plug wire for continuity and that checks fine with less the 1 ohm , next went to the coil and that checked fine at 2.9 ohms on primary and 30 on the secondary side, checked air gap of pulse generator @ .008 also pulse generator ohm reading is @30, next checked the alternator for continuity and that's fine, ( ? what should the voltage out put be), are there any other checks that I can do, would really like to get this back up and running:wondering

Check for a bad neutral safety switch or grounded run/stop switch. Bypass each one and check for spark. If still no spark, try a new plug, last resort would be replace the CDI.

Coil
Primary 0.2-0.4 ohms
Secondary 3.6-4.4 ohms
The pulse rotor and generator air gap should be 0.4-0.65 mm (0.015-0.025 in)
Check chapter 15 for more tests.
