after bout 6 months of having it, ive decided to sell 1986 honda 200x. its needs cosmetic work and definitley a good cleaning but i have gotten tired of messing wit it because of lack of parts availability...ive been looking for a tank and no luck. motor does run. i picked it up after it had been sitting for bout a year and with oil change and new plug started up in 3 kicks. how much do yall think its worth? any good starting point or should i maybe try to make money parting it out? any comments or opinions appreciated.

If you part it out, the rear-end could bring a couple hundred if the axle is straight and bearing carrier isn't too sloppy. Motor may bring a couple hundred also if it does not smoke. After that, all the high dollar items are gone or damaged (tank, headlight shroud, rear fender, grab bar, seat). Best of luck in whatever you decide.

well i got it for really cheap....it does run and does not smoke...axles look straight. i could part it out but i don't know much about shipping and how much to charge for the parts...couple of hundred dollars sounds tempting tho if i could part out.

Where are you in east Texas? Every october we go up to Longview and ride up at the river cabin. Longshot, but for the right price I might get it.

depending on the condition the front fender could fetch some cash

i live about 1 hr south of longview texas....the front fender is in great shape....it just seems to have tiny crack lines that run across the surface but no 'cracks' at all. i think it is because of sitting out in the weather for a long time. i do not have a title to answer the question asked in earlier post. if yall were to own it...how much would yall price it?

I say keep it!
It looks mostly complete and if it runs good its a great canidate for a restore. Tank and a headlight will take the longest to get but they're out there. It just takes some time. After that rear fender and tires can be had aftermarket. It still has the original front fender, grab bar, tool box, skid plates, brakes, and looks like even the helmet holder.
Keep it and bring it back... You'll be happy you did.

$250.00 tops. There just isn't a whole lot other than the axle and engine.

It can be restored easily , parts are out there. you can get maier aftermarket fenders and as for the tank.. ask a ebay member who is selling 86-87 200x parts and look for an ATV salvage online or atv classifides here on 3WW. Everything else can be powder coated or painted. The headlight plastic is one part that is hard to find but you can use the 1986 ATC250R headlight shell and it is still available. FULLBORE INOVATIONS will be reproducing the 86-87 200x shell in the near future. There are still alot of hard part that are still available from honda for this model.

thanks for all the input guys...i am talkin to one guy bought buying a set of non glossy maier rear fenders...if i can get that, then i will probably keep it....only thing tht discourages me is tht although i am mechanically inclined and can turn a ratchet...i feel i am at a loss when it comes to workin on rebuilding stuff like front forks, tearing down rear axle and puttin it together and stuff like tht. i guess it might be cuz im a noob. but i bought this hoping that one day i could see it in its former glory, if not, well at least to ride it once round my block. i have read in tons of posts that the 86 and 87 were the best years of the 200x. to be honest, i bought the whole bike for 80 bucks, so it does not hurt to just keep it. any more thoughts or suggestions are welcome. thanks

for 80 bucks i say youre way ahead in what that trike will teach you. its just parts man, 25 year old parts. buy the ebay bolt kit and small heres and theres. i had the trike torn down, painted, and reassembled in two weeks. its not difficult or mind bending technology. the motor is whats slowing me down, i want this thing to run insanely good.
