Hey there guys, I got a question for ya. On the 85 BR how are the rear fenders set up? is it all one piece or is it like three pieces? The reason I ask is because I am pickin up my first BR on saturday and I know it needs the drop fender that goes in front of the rear tires and behind your legs on each side! From the pics that I have seen of the trike it looks like its a three piece deal. Anyways if you guys could shed a little light on the subject and maybe a few pics, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Mike

I know of the 250ES only...mine has NO fenders, but I will try my best.

There is:

1. two side covers/panels, one covers the kickstarter, other side is at the seat latch
2. two rear half fenders, one for each side
3. toolbox lid, between the two rear fenders

That pic did help, those are exactlly what I need! right now it looks like somebody cut a 50gal garbage can and used that for the fenders!

I know the feeling! Watch out for the side panels, especially the right side/kicker side one. They're ALWAYS missing. Just take into consideration the price for fenders when you get the BR. Don't pay $50 less than a completed one if you're going to pay $300 in plastics afterward.

Mine had ATC 110 fenders cut, half 'painted' (if you want to call it that) zip tied to the rear rack!! (and the rack was spot welded so that it wouldn't pivot back!!)

Luckily now it's stripped down to a bare frame, getting fixed up. Won't get to buy all the parts for it til I finish my 350x, but it's at least been disassembled.

are there any good upgrades/mods that can been done to improve the BR? I dont know squat about them!

They are the best utility trike made.

Not many upgrades for the stock engines, maybe use a 350x carb. You can also do an engine swap for the TRX300 2wd engine. Those have more upgrades available - not sure if the Big Red can use the same cams, (Some people use the Big Red cam and timing chains in TRX300 quads) but there are some aftermarket ones made for that model.

You can try to find a plow for it, or make one. Front and rear racks, trailer hitch. Winch if you'd like. Thorpe has a nice setup for winter on his BR.

Agreed about the plastics! Any mod for a 250SX can be used on a ES... But there isnt a whole lot of point... Crappy suspension, and its a work horse... Dont get me wrong, I love mine in its stock form! (Thanks Fat Shady!) Gonna put up some pics and dimensions on my plow on of these days... (as my kiddos allow me time...)

I'm interested in the Raptor 660 shock on the SX that one fellow did...wonder if he used the linkage with it? I may want that on my Big Red, or off another utility honda or Brute Force 750. If I'm going to lift it, that opens up my options for a longer or shorter shock, as I can lift it 2" by just using a bigger shock, or lift 2" with a smaller one and a taller bottom shock mount etc...

Only concern is the SX driveshaft having a spring and the BR being solid, figured it'd have to move since it has suspension??

What do you mean the BR being solid? The SX rear shock and the ES shock are almost the same... Would be the similar amount of work to retro fit one into a BR...
