View Full Version : Problem with rear master cylinder rebuild kit from Beatrice Cycle (for 200x)

I had ordered a rear master cylinder rebuild kit from Beatrice a few weeks ago. Today I went to rebuild it and the cylinder itself is too large of a diameter. Being such tight tolerances, the new cylinder will not fit. I cannot return it since my dad ripped the rubber boot and I now need the new one. It was going on a 1984 200x. I was just wondering if anyone had this problem before. Did they make different sizes that year? Is this a universal kit (I'm assuming it is) and it just doesn't fit. Or am I just dumber than I thought. This is the one I purchased http://www.dratv.com/rebrmacyreki.html
Thanks in advance for any feedback that will be provided.

Is it possible that the bore on your master cylinder is just too far out of spec to rebuild?

I never liked aftermarket generic seal kits. Too many varialbles.

In the long run it is FAR better and easier to retrofit a newer part onto your trike then to keep rebuilding old worn out stuff.

BTW You should be able to return it since Beatrice sold you a kit that doesn't work!! I rebuilt my 86 r caliper last week using OEM seals and I was done in no time.

I was able to get it to work. I wasn't able to use all the parts though, including the cylinder. I think it just needed a cleaning for the most part, next time I most likely will be going OEM. Thanks for all the replys!
