Guys,
I just purchased my first atc for $100. It runs great and looks pretty good. The only issue so far: the rear end is "locked up". The chain is off. If I roll it forward, I get lound clicks. It will roll backward without the noise.
Before I tear it apart, I thought I would find out if anyone has any input or a similar experience. From my understanding, there are rear breaks and bearings as to moving parts.
Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

my suggestions would to get a manual to help you along on your learning experience. you can go to the "world class help" section of this site and find a manual in their or try finding one cheap on ebay or find another free down load somewhere on google.
anyways good luck and let your manual be a good friend to your exploration. good luck

i had someone stomp on the brakes and lock one up bad.
If you dont have side to side rockinng the bearings are prob ok
I have one that rocks 3 or 4 inches side to side and still works...bearing so shot they say it prob will never come apart.
The only thing else in there is the brake shoes.
if you can get those big, thin double nuts off, the axle should sorta fall out..or leave the axle in place and just take off the brake drum and cover and it's all right there.
Brakes check is the easiest thing to do first.
just lots of 10mm headed little bolts, but the nuts are mostly welded in place.
If the bearing are wasted or worn out or some roller are flat, it could do the same roll foreward but not backwards, but rock the machine side to side.
either way, it's tool time and you'll have a nice ride.
Nothing rocket science about those rear ends.

yea, on second thought, do like HarryRT says.
If you're goin' in anyway, may as well do it right.
Nothing in there is very expensive and you certainly do NOT want it to lock up at the perfectly WRONG moment
