alright, i have a chance at a 200s for 125 bucks, it runs looks a little beat on but for the money what can ya expect ? anyway it would be for a bud of mine who is a first time rider and interested in the trike scene, so i figure it would be a good learner bike for him and with the minor repairs it needs he could familiarize (sp?) himself with some of the parts.
it needs a new front tire and wheel bearings, back axle needs replaced, wich he has the original it just needs all the rear brake replaced, and one of the header pipe bolts is busted off in the head, and the pull rope is broken along with the flywheel ? i think thats where the rope connects (newb)
anyway sorry for the long post just wondering what you guys think i say go for it, best part is he would keep it at my place and i would help him with what i can

If it runs and drives I'd say no problem for 125. I wish I didn't sell my 200s, they are light and fun on the ice. Pullstarts are a piece of cake once you take your time and do one.

Parts come a dime a dozen for the 200s. Mostly any part from a 185 will swap over also. The motors in them are nearly bulletproof, and last forever. It would be a perfect learning bike for him, and an 84 would have front suspension, so that is a nice plus. The pullrope should be a fairly easy fix, and there are a lot of threads on here about how to rewind them. The recoil on the inside makes contact with a round steel cage that bolts onto the flywheel. I have seen this cage wear before where the dogs make contact, and also the dogs wear, and it wouldnt work, but once again, parts come a dime a dozen and can be had for dirt cheap, and most recoil parts can even be bought new. The head may be a tough fix, or it could be easy. A really good bet would be to send it to dirtcrasher here on the boards, he has all the machines and equipment to tackle the task and does a great job from what I see. Otherwise you could buy a head off ebay, or other sources. I know the 185, 200x, and earlier year xr 200 head will all bolt on. The price isnt bad, and you could always try to shoot $100 bill at him and see what happens. Good luck!
