I know you guys might not understand whats so special about this little guy but here in CA Horny Toads are almost extinct. This is the first horned lizard I've caught in CA in the 20 years I've been here! And I happened to spot hiim while riding! I am always looking carefully while riding and always try and avoid hitting any snakes/lizards and often stop to catch/look at lizards.

Awesome.. I remember catching one as a kid in the California desert, and having it do the blood out of the eyes trick. I also had a Kangaroo Rat as a kid. I also remember picking up a desert tortoise and having it drop a couple of eggs out. The desert is an awesome place to play in as a kid.

That is cool! Wild life is a big part of it. Well last weekend my daughter informed me we both ran over a rattler. I didn't even notice it, oops. That is a neat little dude to experience right there.

I had a pet horned toad for about a year when I was 12 and lived in CO. They're pretty neat little lizards. Cool find, did he bite you when you grabbed him? That's what made it easy for me to catch the one I had, he latched onto the end of my finger when I went for him.

Yea it really sucks these lizards are so rare now a days, they are hands down my favorite reptile. I have 4 of them as pets and it sure gets expensive buying ants, I also have two huge bearded dragons. I always catch snakes/lizards while riding, I got a nice rattlesnake the other week. I also try and avoid wildlife while riding, a lot of these animals are dying off due to their natural habitats being lost/developed on.

The real problem is that the tree huggers dont realize that we actually care, and by doing some of the things that we do we do more than them, which is basically whine...

I always make sure I respect the wildlife, I always move snakes off the trail even poisonous ones because I know they'll get killed. People always kill rattlers and stuff out of ignorance but they deserve respect and should be left alone or at least moved to a more secluded area.

I was born in Twentynine Palms and last year I went back to see my grandmother. well to make a long story short I got alittle h!g# and wondered out into the desert with my girl to find a few horney toads. Needless to say after 6 hrs in the morning after sunrise none to be found. Very cool man I would of died to show my girl one, but she settled on a roadrunner with a lizard in it's beak.

Thanks man! People say I have an oldschool style cause I hang really far off the bike and hug into the bike but that's just how I've always ridden.

And horny toads are getting harder and harder to find, they used to be everywhere but they are not doing well as a species.

thats awesome man, i only find toads, garters, and frogs when i ride, but the desert definately holds more exotic animals than the backwoods of michigan

We dont have any rattlers here but I do avoid hitting any snakes I do see. The other day I went for a ride and went out on a sand bar where there was a little pool from the last time the water was high. I saw something moving in the pool and realized it was a small catfish, so I relocated him to back to the river. After that I realized that the big crane that flew off the sand bar when I showed up there was probably gonna eat said fish. Sorry for ruining your dinner big crane. lol

Very cool, there are a lot of rabbits where I live. couple toads, and coyotes. There are so many rabbits(ask Newrider, not even funny) I have to start getting rid of them(.22), or else my dogs tear them up and get fleas. I admit I have ran over quite a few with my 250R, did not mean it, they like to hide on the brush on my trail and often rocket out to run, but run down the trail.
I wish we had more lizards out in CO, they are really cool.
