Rumor or Truth, Can you put steel wool in an exhaust to quiet it if its missing the resinator or is this "quick fix" not a good idea?

back in the 90's i made a silencer for my IT175 until I got a new one. I used a tennis ball can and drilled holes in it. Then packed it with steel wool. It worked for the time being.

You can, and use a beer can or other can with holes in it!

The muffler is still on its just missing the piece that bolts on the back of it so can you just pack a little inside the muffler?

you would need something to cap off the back to hold it in though

I have seen a campbells soup can, with holes in it and a sos pad,lol funny same idea different materials
