OK first -- is it possible to put a recoil assembly on the 200x motor from a 185/200 series? If so what do I need? I 'm guessing they should be pretty similar bottom ends as far as bolting stuff on goes

If not- I may be looking to buy a 185/200 cc engine that will bolt into my 85 200x. I hate the kicker. are these direct bolt in , and what about electrical, are they the same wiring?

Ok --- now to validate the thread for mad scientist

My creation

Snowmobile engine quadzilla -- I bought it like this and they did a real nice job, the original zilla engine was blown and the guy was into vintage sled racing.

Soo - 500cc artic cat -- complete rebuild, stock exhaust, 40mm mikuni,

Runs the sled cvt setup through a jackshaft,

Its only a fan cooled, but I like it-- simple, yet still around 50hp. so its still pretty fast. The cvt gives it a low takeoff, and into a deep overdrive. so I get best of bothe worlds.

 how do you hate a kicker?? but yes the 200s and I believe the 185s will bolt right in. Just have to modify a little misc. parts here and there(brakes, shifter, pegs, wires) Its called a auto-X because you will be losing the clutch with this conversion :( hope I could help, also theres a bunch of guys on here who have done this and im sure the would love to help you ;)

---ALSO--- no you cant put a recoil on a 200x bottom end.

umm... what do you mean it slips?? like your foot slips off and hits u in the shin(makes you say some new words when that happens ) or you kick down and it like free wheels?

It only grabs half the time, other times it freewheels

Mabey the bearings or something might be F'ed up. Not that hard to fix(I dont think) I had the same problem on a old dirtbike... forgot how I fixed it, years ago

So rather than fix the kicker you're going to make it an auto X. Ummm.... OK I guess. :wondering

Funny, I just threw away a 200S motor because nobody would come and take it away.

I've never had a case apart. I'm gonna autox it , and then I will have time to get into the 200x motor and not feel quite as bad if it turns into a bag of parts.

I didn't even want to bother with shipping or anything. I tried to give it away. The motor turned over just fine too. Nobody would take it. Turned into quite the s**t show- http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?115513-Free-200s&highlight=

You can have a manual clutch and pull start, you need to have both motors and use parts from both.
You have to split both cranks and use the left crank half from the auto engine and the right crank half from the manual engine, then use the whole auto engine except the clutch cover and various clutch components. Might need the right engine case from the manual engine, cant remember but you will work it out.
You can run the decompressor cable if you want too but you have to use the auto engine rocker cover or head.
