On my 350x the right side footpeg has got me scratching my head. Someone used an oversized bolt to make it work, as im guessing it was stripped out once before. I went up north riding earlier this year and the bottom bolt broke off in the frame. I started to drill it, and the drill bit snapped off inside. The hole isn't all the way through the broken off bolt, and I don't have a Mill with carbide drill bits... Kind of lost on what to do... :wondering

Can i take off the left foot peg and get a punch and try to drive it out the other side? Is it hollow all the way through?

Torch and air?

I broke a drill bit off like that before. Sucks. You can try to drill beside it and use an "Easy Out." Good luck and have patience.

I have smashed broken off bits to smaller pieces and pulled the pieces out. Try hitting it with a punch and hammer.

I didn't think of that fabio. That is a good idea.

Punch and hammer style worked.

$60 for the heli-coil kit and the drill bit >_< Ow...
On top of that, the hole was oblonged and the heli coil kit didnt even work, it wont support the load :(

Welder and sawed off bolt, here i come!

Yeah but you'll have that 10MMx1.0 helicoil kit for good.......

I usually just buy the tap and helicoils and wind them in myself. Fortunately I have just about every size from 4-12MM helicoils now, you need em!

I might try to weld the hole back together and then try to re-tap it and put another helicoil in there.

Its not 10x1.0 either, its 10x1.25 Odd size, i could have got 1.0 and 1.5 for about $20 bucks, but it wasn't that size...

Just a piece of information, don't ever try to drill out a heli coil. It doesn't work. Burnt up my brand new drill bit in about 10 seconds. Just welded it in and then went from there.

You could get an M10 nut - reduce the outside to a suitable external size on a linisher - enlarge the hole to match and weld or braze it into place.
You will have a superior thread and drilling and tapping into welded metal is never easy.

Just a quick idea - I had to do this on my 350X. If it is the bottom hole you are talking about - and I bet it is - you can drill it out larger - actually you will want to drill both sides out -(bottom hole of the other foot peg) it is a hollow tube the entire way thru the frame. Then I took a piece of all tread and double nutted it on both sides. Problem solved - quick, fast, and good! It won't be factory - but it will be strong! As someone else mentioned - those drill bits are hard - and a punch will break it out of there. Not taps or welding necessary - just a drill and a big bit!

Just grab the end with "dykes" or diagonal cutters and roll it out while pulling like a thread; I can always get them out so far (knock on wood).

Nothing wrong with 3/8-24 or 7/16-20 even 1/2 -20, but make sure you have a good tap hole all the way around...........

The bottom hole is just a long welded in solid plug, you can make it anything you want but fine thread is better...........

Some pieces are just DOM tubing.
