dont part the bike out parts are extremely easy to get with that model you just have to look harder.
i can help you find parts your looking for dont be one of those people who help make trikes go extinct its a dumb idea.
and for people who say its going to make 3 or 4 more bikes run theres still lots of parts out there that can make those bikes run without killing one.
theres websites that still have all the parts for the tecate if they are out of stock then they close the link or write out of stock next to it and i have only seen 2 parts for the 87 tecate out of stock(not all websites have the out of stock warning which means you have to call or they cancel the order)
parts online may be more expensive but they are in new condition at that price and will outlast mostly everything else thats had miles built up on it.
im not trying to spoil your idea but trikes are going to get rarer and harder to find and it does not help to part out a running trike with most its parts put on it.
i will only part out a trike if its completely destroyed(no engine and parts taken from it and barely anything left)
just ask around and look online their are many different part websites so if one website dont have the part another just might.

Use paypal for payments - it is easy to use, instant payments, and allows buyers to buy from you using thier credit cards.
Use usps flat rate boxes for any parts that will fit in them - boxes are free from your local post office and the rates are set.
Find a Fedex drop off site for bigger items.
Or
you can buy new Maier rear fenders from many places - including ebay - for under $200 shipped to your door and watch ebay and the classifeds here for a tank - if you haven't done it already post a want to buy ad for both items here and wait.

Most people like to use paypal as payment. Its safe and easy. I would post all the parts on the trike forums before going to Ebay or CL

dang..i guess the general concensus is to keep the bike....to be honest, when i bought the trike my dream was to restore it because i know how hard it is to find the 86 200x nowadays....i just don't know much about atvs so i either have to buy stuff new or pay someone to fix. i have posted a wtb ad for tank and no replies. it does run, and no smoke. i do wish i could keep to ride but i am in school right full time right now and tht is an expense in itself. i might end up just keepin and a couple of years down the road i might do a restore. in the meantime, does ANYONE have a useable tank and rear fenders for 1986 200x....gonna give it another shot.

I wouldn't use EBAY if you part it. Too much to keep track of, basically 10% of the take and 4% of the take to Paypal and then you go to the USPS all the time and get stuck with the frame, motor and other heavy large items people don't care for.
If it runs well, I'd cobble an 85 tank or ANY tank on there and you can buy the fender if you get out your wallet, not sure if you have a seat. Even shipping a used fender is 40$ which is why all my big items get shrink wrapped and go to FEDEX.

it is not hard to find a 86 200x. i bet i can find one anytime!
costs alot but here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-Honda-ATC200X-ATC-200X-86-87-REAR-FENDER-FREE-S-H-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem41418f8027QQitemZ28027 2797735QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
and a oem off the shelf fuel tank is going to cost a little over 300 but parts do show up on ebay for cheap you just have to keep an eye out it wont take forever.
