Ok, looking to do some work on "red". It's an 85 and pretty much (until recently) run with no problems.
I've been looking online for a manual and have had no luck. It looks like the 85 200 series is pretty similar, at least the carb, where I am starting.
Anyone got a link to an online manual?
Would like to know who everyones "go to" person/company for parts is.
Just picked up a carb rebuild kit from e-bay and it looks pretty straight forward once I got the thing off the trike. Any tips for easier removal or installation?
The other problem that has recently presented it self is it not wanting to start. Cranks fine, is getting fuel, has a spark and compression but won't start. I'm thinking maybe the CDI box is going bad and the spark it's getting isn't enough??? Any thoughts?
In a nut shell folks I'm asking for any tips or advice you can give me.
My total mechanic experience is with small bloc chevys and my dodge diesel.
All thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

If you know the carb needs rebuilt, start there, and always a new plug. That should help your starting.

Let's figure out exactly what you have.
an 85 CAN be a 200 but an 85 big red is a 250 electric and kick start. called 250es
or 250sx
Is there a way to read what's on the headstock under the handlebars?
Should give mfg date and model year. with some letters after it.
There is a world of difference between a 200 and a 250.
Completely different animals.
The 185 and 200 are the same in many ways
Go back to the front page of 3ww.com and look under 'worldclasshelp.'
Manuals should still be there.
100 megs or so.
Owners manuals are smaller and full of fun info too

It's an 85 Big Red, 250. Not sure on es or sx I'll have to look this evening and see what I can see. I looked under the "world class help" but was not able to get the manual for it there. I took a look at the manual for the 200 looking for carb info. as that is where I'm starting. The shown is pretty close to what is in "red"
The carb is on the bench waiting for me to dig in and see if there is any obvious problems and for a rebuild.
The plug is new and in good shape.
The thing that makes me think the CDI box is going out is last winter it was running fine, then it quit starting (would crank but not start) I didn't have time to mess with it, so it sat until a week or so ago. Went out and had the same issue. About 3 days ago I went out to do some testing and see if I could get a general idea of the problem and it started fine, ran for 2 days and now is backto cranking but not starting. Thanks for the suggestions

Getting the carb out isn't too bad but I had some trouble getting it back in there and the hoses attached back up. It seems like the dang air hoses are always too short and there isn't anything for the clamps to clamp onto.
