Hey guys I'm new to the forum, I recently purchased a 1985 atc 200 for 150 bucks. I am going to try and restore it. So I have some q's. Did these things have electric start, and if not why is there a battery box under the seat.
Next q, my carb leaks some. Is this common and if it is how do I remedy it?
Also I am having some weird things with the transmission. Do I have reverse?
And lastly, for right now, how hard is the wiring harness to work with? I just want to clear up the lines a little bit.
Thanks for all fo the help in advance.

Some had electric start, the Big Reds I know had electric start. Rebuild the carb, at least completely tear it down, clean out ALL the jets, blow out all the passages, clean clean clean some more, and put back together. If its not shaft drive, then no reverse.
If yours has electric start, you would have a key ignition and a starter switch. If neither are present, then no electric start (i think).
CLEAN the carb! Put a new plug in it (DR8ES-L .024-.028 gap). Then pull and see what happens.

An atc200 does not have electric start. Just a pullstart. Check the engine for a starter, it should be pretty easy to see, if you have one. Under the seat should be the air filter box. Open it, is there an air filter in it?
Leaky carbs are common and easily fixed with a carb re-build kit. Easily obtained from numerous places. Pretty simple to do, especially with a manual.
ATC200 does't have reverse.
If it's an atc200 without e-start the wiring harness is a oiece of cake.
Welcome to the forum. Buttloads of info here.

Really? My ATC200e has an electric start. The OP may not have stated the exact model designation, ie the letter that may or may not be after the 200.

Hey Moose,
When asking questions about a specific machine, you will need to provide the vin number or a picture and you can get about any answer to any question. You really need to download a manual and read through it as it will answer most of the simplest questions for you. After reading it, you will be able to ask better questions and understand the answers better for yourself. As you can see from above, with very little info given, you are going to get all kinds of answers. The bike you referenced does have electric start. I am not sure about reverse, but I do not think so. Look on the neck and give us the vin number when you get home.
The manual are available in this site and welcome aboard.

Yes it does, I guess a previous owner did away with the electric start.

I'm confused, you mean it does have the starter in front of the cylinder head but the previous owner did away with the electric start? Something isn't making sense. Are you saying that the wiring is missing for the electric start? Does the trike have an ignition key?
