I think the 225dx rides like a hardtail. I have one, and it's my least favorite trike. I took it to the trails and rode it hard for about 15 minutes, then put it back on the trailer, feeling like my spine had been abused. There's really no comparison between that and the 200x. What to look out for, I can't say. Mine had (has) a broken clutch adjuster, which seems all too common, and the starter won't turn it over when it's cold. Could be I just need a new starter too.

See if it has spark before you buy it. Maybe try removing the air filter and see if it starts then, a clogged filter can definitely keep it from starting. I have a 225dx and a 200x and there is no comparison. The 225 is a blast in the snow b/c it has reverse. The rest of the year the 200X is more fun...it feels lighter, is more nimble in the woods, has more torque, and is a smoother ride. Just my $.02.

I have an 86 225dx that I'll work on after I get my 84 200x finished. I can't really compare the 2 since I bought the x non running and the 225 runs but is in need of some TLC ( I did send the payment for the yellow plastic set and clutch that powdiddy has listed in the classifieds today though ) but my cousin had both an 200x and 225dx when we were younger and I'd rode them both often. The 225, as I remember, had more torque and would wheelie better but the suspension was so much better on the x that it didn't need the extra power. Since I've had both of mine I've talked with a couple of people who owned both trikes back in the day and they have agreed with what I remember. The big thing for me right now is replacement parts, they are more plentiful and cheaper for the x than the 225 but other than that I can't complain. The carb on the 225 keeps giving me problems but I haven't ran a full tank of gas through it yet and with the condition it was in I expect that I'll go through several filters and carb cleanings before I get it stable.
