Well my brother just picked up 2 "86 200x's". Both of them needing a little work. But there are some differences between the two. First one has a larger kick start shaft then the other. This leads me to believe its a 87 motor. It doesn't have a key like the the 87 had but maybe someone put a 87 motor into a 86 frame. But the biggest difference is the swingarms/rear shocks are different. I'm not aware if any other model swingarms will fit the 2nd gen 200x. The main differences are in how the shock mounts to the swingarm. They have different shock linkages that are totally different. I'm not sure how much differences are in the shock. But I couldn't find any info on the 86,87 swingarm differences. Does anyone know anything about this?? I'll try to post some pictures if someone doesn't have a simple explanation.
Thanks

If it mounts differently, it's not an 87 OEM swinger whether it's red or not.

You may have a rare aftermarket swingarm or something else stuffed in there, it should mount the same or the shock and swinger would be 100% different......

I've had a couple late run 86 motors with the 19MM kicker shaft.
