My 350x was stolen last night.

VIN is JH3TE080XGM105959

See pics below. if anybody finds my bike (or parts of what they think could be my bike) please let me know right away. It is an '86 with white maier plastics, rough frame, very low hours motor, OEM rims, PRM grab bar, headlight guard almost perfect headlights and shroud, worn paint job on the tank, dunlop rear tires, blue OURY grips, OEM exhaust, K&N Filter... If I think of any other distinguishing features, I'll add to the list.

If you have any pics of my bike from TF, Smith, Sandpuppi's, Badlands, etc, please post! I need _recent_ pics that show distinguishing features like the spring-mount flag perch on the PRM grab bar, the homemade skid plate, the tear in the seat, the wear in the paint on the tank, anything will help.

These pics are from when she was fresh and clean. The 350x sticker is missing from the front fender now, she has Oury grips and PRM grab bar, and she's a bit dirty from recent riding but other than that she looks just about exactly like this:

Damn that sucks!! Rat bastards. I will keep an eye out here in Northern IL. I have seen VERY few 350xs around here, so if one showed up that looked good like yours it would be a dead giveaway.

Sorry to hear that. I've been hearing about alot of ATV/ATC thefts in my area too. Anyone that goes near my Garage is getting a kiss from my Browning 30-06.

Did you have it sitting out or notice any suspicious activity lately? Sadly it's usually somebody you know, a friend of a friend, somebody driving by, etc in these situations....

got any numbers from the machine Dave ?

I'm working on that. I've got a bill of sale around here somewhere that has the numbers. As for how it was stolen, I had my 4 machines chained together next to my house because of the work I'm doing in the garage. Yesterday I was doing things in the yard and I had to move the machines to pull my trailer through. I put them back where they were, but I got distracted last night and forgot to put the locks back on and that was it. The 350 was gone by morning. I guess it's my fault. Nicest machine I ever owned. :-(

There's not too many 350x around here and the word is out to some key people. If my bike or even parts from it show up around here, I recon I'll find out about it. Chances are it's long gone, though. I'm guessing whoever took it knew which bike to take and had a new home for it far from here before they ever came and got it.

Dave that's a total bummer. You know we'll be looking. Trouble is, as we know there are really no local riding places where people just go and ride in our area. Man, i know how you must feel. I had a pristeen all oem 87 trx250r stolen from me nearly 3 years to the day ago. Broke my garage window to gain access, and opened the big door. Even had the courtesy to close the door after they fled. My thieves had a plan going into it and had it well thought out. So i had to invest into a big dollar security system with glass breaks, door sensors, motions, and even custom made bolt on iron window guards. Our world is truly sad, we have to go to these measures to protect what we work so hard for. Thieves are without a doubt, the absolute lowest form of life on earth. Be it something small, or something as large as a complete machine. I'm sure T-50 will be on the lookout while on patrol in Gary.......

Look for tracks leading away. I bet it's stashed close by and will likely come back for it. Look in the wooded areas and creek beds. Just trying to help a bit bro and feel for ya.

It may not be stashed too far away. Sometimes kids stash them and go to school, then ride when they get out....

Like said above - It could have been a friend, someone who drove by or someone you did some work for.

Most likely someone knew there was a nice "X" there!!

I will keep an eye out in the Cedar Lake / St. John area. I NEVER see 3-wheelers out here especially an x in that condition. I hope it turns up!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I recently had a similar experience here with a couple of kids. I recently had a very nasty case of strep and was in the hospital for three days, well my wife comes home from visiting me and there is two kids on our three wheelers just getting them started and she freaked on them, so when I got home I pulled the sparkplugs and put bolts in the holes and drained the fuel. Otherwise there is a guy here who many years ago pulled a 350 x motor out of a full 350 x and put it in a 4 wheelerI have been meaning to ask him about the frame and what not so if you're interested and I get a price from him for it I'll let you know

The police need pictures. I have the pictures from when it was minty fresh (as posted in this thread). If anybody has pictures from TF 08, 09, or 10, Smith Rd, Badlands, etc, please post them up. ESEPCIALLY if they show a distinguishing feature like the PRM grab bar with spring flag mount, the stupid home made skid plate, tear in the seat, wear marks on the tank, etc.

The thief was aware that it was unchained. Strong chance you know the thief.

If someone stole one of mine and I caught them, they'd "vanish".

I live in the southern tip of Illinois, the theif should be close to your surrounding area and may be closer than you think. I will keep an eye out , the 350X has distinct features and I will keep a look out for parts/part out, that is what usually happens to stolen trikes! What city do you live in?

Frankencelery

Posting the VIN was a great idea. Everyone who loses a trike should do that. I think that whenever I'm interested in buying a trike, I will run the VIN by the police, AND search for it here.

I agree with others who have said it's someone you know, or someone who has been at your house. It's a bizarre coincidence that they happened to be there the one day you left your trikes unlocked.

Do you have any insurance? My insurance agent suggested that I would need to insure my trikes separately to make sure they're covered. That irks me....you pay a huge premium for homeowners insurance, and then there's all kinds of exceptions of stuff that's not covered.

Yeah, sorry SYKO. This has kinda been front-and-center. I spent 2 days tearing through trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro to find the VIN, putting together a package of photos for the detectives who are working on it, etc, oh yeah... and trying to actually get some work done wherever I could fit it in the gaps. I'll try to remember to mail you tonight.

I'm in Chesterton (46304). It sure does have distinct features. I could pick it out of a line-up of 50 other 86 350x's even if they all had white maier plastic. I appreciate you keeping your eyes open. There have been two opinions voiced with equal enthusiasm. One is that it's someone who may not know me personally, but they live close by, probably a punk kid, and that it's stashed somewhere in town. The other is that it's someone not local but they had a tip it was there and they came and got it and had it sold before I even knew it was gone.

I don't know which to believe. Thinking it's a local punk makes me feel better, but I know some people who've had some expensive race bikes stolen and they were swiped by people who lived south of here and sold to people who lived even farther south.

I guess we'll know which when it turns up. I really think that with as many eyes as are looking for this bike, it'll turn up sooner or later. Between my local friends, the police, and the 3ww community, we've cast a pretty wide net. whether it stays local, travels north, south or west, I think we'll probably get it back.

Dave, get some pictures and stuff together and some identifying qualities, I'll put a BOLO on the 3ww facebook page and see if maybe there is a chance someone will spot it.

get out there and patrol every back road, every trail, every farm field, every backwoods hangout you can think of within 10 miles and do it 24/7

I would bet that this machine was taken by some local scumbag/ ocal scumbag kid who had seen it many times and just happened to notice it was not locked. It is probably a few miles from your house at the most and these rocket scientists will not be able to resist riding it. ...and when you find them, shoot them in the face because they deserve it

A friend of mine had a dirt bike stolen and 2 weeks later he pasted it on the road in the back of a truck. He chased the guy down and found that the guy had JUST bought it. They went back to the house where he bought it from and it was a teenager that lived less than a mile down the road from the scene of the crime. The kid thought letting it cool off for a couuple of weeks was good enough. The guy that bought it lived out of town and truely did not know it was stolen. 1 minute later in either direction and my buddy would not have seen it and it would have been gone forever.

Thanks for the assist, fatshady. That's not my bike but it's awesome that you're keeping an eye out for me. The main keys in those pics besides the stickers that you picked up on are the exhaust (mine is a very well treated OEM), the tires (mine are the dunlops with the "z" shaped tread), and the headlight guard. That bike doesn't have a skidplate at all, let alone my crappy home made one, but then if I stole my bike the first thing I'd probably do is ditch that POS hand made junk. ;-)
