I'm in the process of putting new swing-arm bearings, rear brake pads and a 300ex shock on my 84 Tecate. I just noticed that it only has the top roller. How many is it supposed to have? I've looked at a few pictures and see some have a bracket coming down from the chain guard mount hole with a roller on it. Where can I get one of these? Thanks. I already have a new chain guard from jeswinehart.

Stock it only has the upper roller. I have seen people put a single aftermarket roller on the stock swinger using the chain guard bolt hole. If you wanted an aftermarket single roller, I would check ebay. I have had my 84 Tecate for 23 years and have never had any problems with thrown chains. Just keep up on the adjustment so they don't get loose. Keep an eye on your sprockets for hooked or missing teeth.

IMO, if the machine is bottomed out so far that the chain would touch that upper roller that would be one VERY hard landing resulting in other damage.
