This '85 R frame has translucent lollipop red powder over extreme chrome powder. Candy Apple Red to say the least. Red Holographic Carbon Fiber fenders, short track tank and shrouds will soon be in production. Totally rebuilt bottom end with new left side inner case powder coated to mimic brush aluminum. 261cc top end with rad valve and Mikuni 38 carb (for now).
Cosmic Quads will handle the seat once I decide on the design. Durablue Eliminator 2+2 axle and a Lonestar 28" aluminum drag axle for choices. '06 TRX450R swingarm, linkage and Custom Axis rear shock.
OEM Enkei wheels soda blasted, polished and powdered with Candy Gold to surpass the shine of anodizing.
Debating what route and brand to take with inverted forks.
All other misc. bits will be polished or powdercoated.

I have experience with molds and fiberglass, but I'm now applying that to carbon fiber and kevlar products. These materials require great pressure as well as heat during the cure cycle to acquire the high strength/light weight ratio.
www.compositeenvisions.com carries the holographic carbon fiber in red, green, light blue, chrome and silver. The fenders will be a CF/Kevlar weave with the top layer being the holographic material. Epoxy resin is used.
Billy Golightly is providing a donor short track tank and shrouds so I can reproduce them using the same medium.
Also, I will integrate the center portion of the 250R fenders with the 450R outer fenders for those that want a more modern look.
If Honda ever decides to release this new mystery 450R, I'm sure the plastic will be incredible. I look forward to working with that new design as well.
Now, if we can only produce a titanium frame LOL.

For anyone needing their frame(s) powdercoated, I'll offer a discounted price of $125.00 per frame. Any color. This should offset the expense of shipping.

Wow, that looks really nice. How do you achieve the pressure/heat needed during the cure cycle?

Nice work! If that's PBTP's lollipop, even more impressive. I've used that powder and it can be finicky to say the least. And doing a frame for members for $125 is definitely a great deal!

This lollipop red came from Caswell Plating. I have some lollipop blue that looks incredible. Probably do the rear 450R shock spring extreme chrome, then lollipop blue. Polish the swinger then Candy Gold powder on it. Retro, yet modern twist. Also a blue seat from an '08 TRX450R modded with hybrid fenders molded from 450R and 250R fenders. I'll have to mod one of my carbon fiber tanks to accept the 450R seat correctly.

undefined107696107695Quick post with a pic of the 450R swingarm on the 250R frame. Slight modification to the frame for the linkage to stay clear of binding.

Slight modification to the frame for the linkage to stay clear of binding.Looks great! Can you elaborate on the slight frame modification you made to keep the linkage from binding?
Also, will you be using the ATC shock/linkage, or the TRX 450R shock and linkage?

Needs to be an '06 swinger and linkage. Also uses the 450R shock. You use your own 250R swingarm bolt. Here's the link to what you need and how to do it:

Although my polisher is on it's last leg, I did some grinding, sanding and polishing by hand this morning. This is the ink from the '06 TRX450R swingarm. No more "by hand" foolishness. A new polisher is on the way.
The casting seams are history. The swinger will be polished and powdered with candy translucent gold for a retro-modern look.
Also a pic of my treasured Ohtsu P/V 101 for the front.

Well, I got the swingarm powder coated today with Extreme Chrome. Turned out pretty good. I think the build will have a retro but modern look to it. I'll apply Translucent Candy Gold over the Extreme Chrome finish to mimic the original look of the OEM 250R's swingarm. Same thing with the wheels. Polished with a Translucent Candy Gold top coat. I want to do the same thing with the inverted fork modification. I think inverted forks are anodized gold, but not sure. Regardless, I'll bead blast that finish off and apply the same finish as the swingarm and wheels.
Pic on the left after powder coating. Pic on the right before powder coating. I'm still working on the linkage, grinding down the casting lines before it gets the same treatment.
I'd like opinions on what to do with the engine, as far as what finish to go with. Chrome? Candy Gold? Black Chrome? I'm liking the Black Chrome idea, but let's hear your thoughts on this.

Some chromeness on the swinger. It'll look108201 better with some translucent candy gold over the chrome powder.

I would definately go with the black chrome for the engine, very nice finishing touch....just my 2 cents.

that red dragon would look sweet put on top of a black seat, where it would cover the whole top of the seat.
when do you plan on making these fenders with the 450R outers? I was going this rought but never gained enough interest to go through with it ony got 200x lowpro fenders made and only got enough interest for one run.
