Has anyone ever tried running a projected tip spark plug in their 350x? If anyone is unfamiliar with what one is, it is the same style plugs as let's say a D8EA but the insulator is a little longer, meaning it sticks further into the CC chamber. I ran in my 200X with no clearence problems and have also used one in my 350x as well. Basically as long as there aren't clearence problems, wouldn't there be a more effeciant burn having the electrode stick down further into the CC chamber?

stock plug DR8ES-L
PT plug DPR8EA-9

do you feel any difference? better throttle response? there was all this hype about those 3 prong spark plugs that had 3 arcs or electricity to it for the reason to also make fore a "better" burn but they really haven't become popular, probably for a reason the way i look at it. (expensive with very little gain)
also some manufactures are running 2 spark plugs per cylinder for the same reason. last i checked, Can-Am's DS450 had 2 sparks plugs.
sounds like alot of work and testing done by companies to offer almost no difference or advantage, if it were so great everyone would be doing it. sounds like more expensive parts to me. like all these different oils when the basic stuff works just as good with proper maintenance.
just my 2 cents

wow I kinda fell into a ramble on that one lol.

But they aren't any more expensive, same price. Like I said, it's the same exact type of plug except that the insulator and elecrtode are more exposed then a regular plug where the threaded rings hide most of the insulator. I'm just thinking, that it would be more efficient to put the spark closer to the piston.

http://www.strappe.com/plugs.html On the 15th paragrapgh down, it explains the projected tip plugs. As long as there aren't any clearence issues, I don't see any problems?

The DPR8EA-9 is what i use in my 200x and it works pretty well. Can't say it seems to perform any better. she starts and runs pretty good. but it's a honda, thats what its suppose to do. so i dunno i guess.

yeah i got what you meant, i just kinda went off topic lol. i was just saying everyone keeps trying to find a way to create a better burn and I think sometimes we have a system that already burns so well that making it better wont have much improvement over price. back on topic though, do you feel any difference using a longer plug? the theory says its better, but what is better? faster? better fuel economy? Less likely to fowl? I would just like to hear some real world improvement over lab test improvement.

Again just my rambling haha
but either way, i dont see why not. if clearance is fine i dont see any harm
