The Trike sat in a garage for well over 20 years. The bike has never been apart... Piston, rings, clutch, chain, everything is original. I have the original title and warranty card too! There was moisture in the tank and one of the corners rusted and is now fixed. I am thinking of buying an original perfect tank rather than painting this one. I'd much rather have it all Honda original than have a rebuilt ATC. What do you think? Does anyone know of a tank someone has sitting on a shelf?

Wow what a score! Does it smoke at all after sitting so long? Personally I would get the original tank painted. What are your intentions with this? Rider or garage queen?

Looks nice. You going to ride it or show it? Ride, repaint tank. Show, get a cherry take off.

I do plan to ride it. Only when its fairly dry and warm. We ride in snow, water and mud but thats what the 200X and Big Red are for. Both of those are all original too but not as nice.

I imagine its gonna smoke either way. Its a 2 stroke after all. Very nice machine you got there.

Nice trike!! Thats a tough one to find in mint condition. Airfoolers, is a great website dedicated just to your type of trike.

Were getting into the problem of good gas tanks. We get "no dents", "very little rust" only to find a junk tank.

Thats why I go plastic, either IMS or Clarke but IDK if they make one for you.

Honda should have made them ALL plastic from day 1, IMO.......

Clean that carb and petcock!!

I would not fool with it. Keep it as original as possible.

He can keep his metal tank to keep it OEM and not chance ruining it.

Finding an 83/84 tank with no dents and clean inside can be very difficult........

Again, I'm not sure if they even make a plastic tank for his model/year.

You can do whatever you want with it, it's your trike. They were meant to be ridden. I ride my Tiger on the rare occasion, but then again I only ride on the rare occasion anymore! LOL You could always have your metal tank coated and painted for display, but if you are worried what may happen with or to your metal tank, then you could always get a plastice tank if you wanted to ride. If you want a garage queen, that's all good and well too. Best of luck whatever you decide.

Keep it like it is, what you have is special. It can be shined up, all it needs really. But a few laps around the lawn every now and again will make the Airfooler feel nothin' but love for ya.

I have a plastic tank for this year. I would sell it if someone wants it. Not sure who made it but gas cap says IMS. It's oversize. Not sure how much it holds but it's alot.

It seems Pete 'petesatc' has a new 83'-84' NOS fuel tank that you can see on his website www.offroadvintage.com.

You think $130 shipped is a fair price for it? Looks like it's a special order from IMS (just gas tanks) that takes 4 to 6 weeks for them to make at a cost of $245

I didnt do the work. The guy I bought it from was a body shop guy. He brazed it and then did the coating for the inside. Thats why I kinda think I want a new tank. I like stuff worry free. I may get a plastic tank for riding but I really want an original one too.
