It's flip-flopped right? The points gap should be on the upper left and felt on the bottom right

points are backwards, shouldn't they be at the left (top side) of the head?

What he said. Was just working on my 110s yesterday. Had the points cover off both of them.

You guys are all half correct but like I said it ran like this , so what else is wrong besides the point cover being 180 out ? motor was being torn down for service so thats why the head nuts were off Tim LOL

If the motor ran, would the machine timing have been 180 out as well?

Regular grade 8 bolt to the crank?

camshaft is 180 out. since cam is 180 out the points had to be moved 180 to compensate. It also looks like points flex arm is grounded to points base so prob no spark. cant see very well. it should be insulated by the thin mica washer. points should connect to primary wire and not be grounded. if it ran then ignore this.

EDIT: either the camshaft is 180 out OR the advancer has been disassy and reassy 180 out therefore points base plate had to be turned 180 for timing to be correct for piston TDC compression/ignition timing.

The flat metal band the allows the points to spring is missing and replaced with a black and white wire.

Just looked at the second picture and it looks like it is there in the second picture?

that seems to be like the most common problem ever with those things. hahahaaa

also, the cap nuts are missing and the intake tappet cover is unscrewed. Not to mention that theres no dirt or rust anywhere on it. thats weird for sure.
