Hey guys, i got a problem with my 86 t3
It has a bad stator, the coils loosened theyrselves and got into the flywheel.
the funny thing on this is, that it isnt the original t3 stator/flywheel.
i don`t know where its from because it was installed by one of the pre-owwners.
there`s also a cdi and coil which are not original, but the bike always run great.
at first i wanted to bouy the ricky stator kit and a original cdi and coil, but heard not much googd about it. i think the pvl would be a great setup, but i have to run lights ant turning lights cause its streetlegal. what do you think is the best solution for my problem?
i hope you understand what i wrote. ( i know my english ist no good)

Sounds like you might have a Motoplat setup,I was talking to javier63 last week and he said this was a common setup on the 86/87 T3 over here in Europe.I personally changed from the Motoplat to Ricky stator with stock coil and CDI,you need to change out the lighting coil on the stator from the 80w to the 65w and you can then run lights no problem.I have had no problems with this setup, although I would recommend you use a timing light to setup the stator as I found the alignment marks to be way out.

if he already had a motoplat/pvl on it then he wouldnt have lights at all. the ricky stator set up is an ok setup. lots of other t3 owners run them. make sure you use some threadlock on the screws for the coils so they wont back out from vibration is all. that way you can run the lights. a street legal t3, i wish!!

The Spanish made Motoplat system came with lights although you did need to run a voltage regulator. Its quite different from the more modern Motoplat/PVL systems as they now use a small inner flywheel where as the Spanish made ones used the full size flywheel much like the original

I've never heard of a Motoplat with provisions for a light. My old Motoplat didn't.

Why not just leave it w/the 80w coil and run the voltage regulator that Ricky Stator supplys?? 80w is better than 65w any day.

Excellent, that opens up way more options. I have saved information on the pressure switches (rear brakes), blinker switches, and mounts and wiring for street legalizing my 84' Tecate. Even have the horn figured out. I have a sheriff that will do the inspection when completed (actually I should say pass it to get plates), even the bike shop with help if I needed to switch to a KDX set up. This is very exciting. QUESTION- How do I obtain this motoplat or similar set up javier1963, 3or4wheels? Is there an aftermarket company in Europe? Or a distributor of this stock set up? Thank you gentlemen- Robby.

finally i found out that my tecate has the complete ignition of a suzuki rg80 gama. the problem was that the outer diameter of the stator is 2mm smaller than te tecate stator, so it was able to move a little ant got into the flywheel. i made a new stator plate on the cnc with the right outer diameter and mounted the rg 80 coils to it and it turned out fine. one of the pre-owners also turned out the inner partof the rg flywheel and weldet it to the inner part of the tecate flywheel to fit the crankshaft. the gamma stator has one round magnet and not 4 glued in, so its much safer.
