this is not a restoration but a build the way i want it. everything is new or rebuilt,
heres a few pictures of the frame, swinger and motor,
the white 85 350x will supply the axle and various parts like forks, shock, bars ect.
the forks and shock are going out to be rebuilt this week, i would like to have this a roller in a week.

The way you want it is IMO the only way to go.

how much did it cost you to rebuild the engine? did you do bottom end and if so where did you get your bearing kit?

cattle-dog
11-11-2010, 10:29 PM
i had a local honda shop go threw the engine for around $900 it is pretty much stock just has a overbore, stock compression. i really love the 350x trikes for the kind of riding we have, the parts 350x has a 12-1 piston engine and it is very torquey but smokes, when my build is done the 12-1 motor will get freshened up and put in my trail 350x.

Watch for crate motors (for the future), I've never paid more than 900$ for the few I got...... But the timing is right now!

Be nice to watch the build, my OEM plastic should be here tomorrow. I'm super psyched to see what I get, but with his 100% feedback and descriptions I expect it to be just what the doctor ordered at a low cost :naughty:

cattle-dog
11-11-2010, 11:45 PM
dirt get the plastic off fleabay? i have been watching myself even bidded up to a amount i wont mention for mint rear plastics, i have oem tank and shrouds, fenders are the last big piece i need. i have a perfect seat core waiting to be shipped out to mrs mosh. need to blast and paint the oem muffler. this needs to be done for snow season.

11-12-2010, 08:38 AM
ah yes i will have it wrapped up for raffas with a nice set of forsnows, but i will be dragging my tri-z with the yz 250 engine to raffas for racing on the ice, the x is to be my snow machine.

well a little progress tonight took the swinger and shock out of the parts x, of course the shock bolts in the swinger are frozen in so its a trip to my work shop for some heat.
parts bike also gave up many rubber parts like the shock resevoir rubbers and clamps. cleaned all the rubbers trying to make them look as new as possible, they actually look very good. tank and seat rubbers also looked great when done.
one question for you 350x guys, i have two diffrent x swingers, the diffrence being the way the brake caliber arm is attached to the frame what style is 86? one swinger has a stud for the arm the other has a mount farther back? thanks cattledog

Yeah, my brother had an '86 that had an '85 swinger and motor. I got lucky I guess... mine's all '86.

i have an 86 swinger if you need 1 its gonna need painted though.i have 86 plastic also that is in really good shape it has a 2inch crack though you probably want mint for your rebuild though.the crack aint all the way through plastic i currently have the front and rear plastic on my 350x but i would rather buy the meier plastic for when i crash and break it i wont feel so guilty

cattle-dog
11-13-2010, 06:51 PM

when she tells you its to cold in the garage bring your trike in the house and build it on the dineing room table!!!!!!!
so here a couple of pics with the swinger and a nos shock installed sitting on our table !!!!lol
I have spent a ton of time cleaning bolts and rubber parts so they look as new as possible.

here are some way nice pictures of my progress, i am very pleased with the way it is turning out, a slower pace than i would like but searching for nice parts is not easy,
notice the aftermarket chain slider and the nos honda 350x shock.
as i said this is going to be my snow machine so thats why the four snows.

i said this is going to be my snow machine so thats why the four snows.

What size are those 4 snow rear tires?

And do you think I could run those tires in hard pack dirt with them not getting ripped up?

cattle-dog
12-12-2010, 11:52 PM
the tires are 22x10x9, i know these tires have been used for dirt drags/grass drags but hard pack might wear them out quick,
I am waiting on the polished tripples to come back so i can assemble the frontend,

Thanks cattledog

This looks great! You are doing what I am hoping to do? Have you had any issues with finding parts? I just bought mine, so I am at the early stage of it. I first want to make sure it is up and running the way it should before I start the complete tear down. My headlights worked when I bought it, then a week later, they only work on Low, when I push and hold the button in? I looked inside the switch and I cannot see anything that looks wrong? Any thoughts, or where besides Ebay, I can find one? I guess the 350X had it's own switch, I believe due to the two head lights? Not sure, but that was what i have read?
Anyway, Great job!! Nice to see three wheelers getting this kind of attention!

Shorty, they only make the 4 snows in 22"s, no 20's.......... They work INCREDIBLE!

after a month looking for a nice set of forks i found them and got the front end assembled.
i purchased a low hour engine that should be here in one week, it will stay stock other than a cam change. once the motor arrives i hope to have the trike assembled by middle of january.
the amount of time it takes to clean and paint every piece is amazing.
my goal is to have a few weeks riding on it before raffas ice fest, should be easy as long as everything gos right.
here it is on its wheels !!!!!!

Regardless, it protects that headlight!

Keep up the good work :D

12-30-2010, 02:14 PM
I understand that you put it together in the dining room...... but how are you going to get it out??

cattle-dog
12-30-2010, 02:23 PM
dirtcrasher i got the guard from frank fmnrd here has them very reasonable price also.
Bretmd94 we have a large door in the diningroom i will swing one tire out first then rotate the other tire threw. if that fails i will pull the axle only takes a few minutes.

its nice as i can tinker with out waiting for the heat to warm up the garage, mind you i paint in the garage, so alot of the time it smells like fresh paint in our house,
it took along time to find a good lady who didnt mind my strange habits and tolerate the crazy things that i want to.
i am going to put the airbox and hoses in the dishwasher tonight so they are spotless, and get them installed.

as far as the door goes, good luck. I keep mine in a shed with a nearly 4' wide door and have to take the rear plastics off and basically put it on its side and it still beats the crap out of the door way. Maybe take the rear wheels off and use like a piano dolly or something under the rearend. Also leave the footpegs off until its out :D Looking good

Looks Good Cattle-Dog! Can't wait to get your report on how those tires do in the snow. I'm told they expand by as much as 40% when gassing it. I may end up getting a set if I get something going before the snow leaves, I have the extra rims now so I can keep them mounted and just swap them for the season. Keep us posted!!! Tim

i believe they are itp`s i bought the setup from jack over the summer outside to outside tire width is 48 1/2 inchs thats how my other 350x was and it was very stable. i will try to figure out how to turn on the flash, thanks bryan

2Tim215
01-28-2011, 11:43 PM
Cattle-dog, I think Bryan is asking about the width of the rim itself. Not sure but maybe the 4 snows shouldn't have that spread to work the way there designed.

a couple of pics of the trike outside.
i had to put some junk fenders and seat on it so i could dial it in and ride it,
let me start off by saying foursnows rock!!!!!!! it would almost go anywhere threw 1 1/2 deep wet snow as long as you stayed on the gas and kept it rolling.
the 350 ran flawlesly only issue is no lights should be a easy fix.
here a a few pics of it outside with junk fenders on and a duct tape seat !!!!.:D
new fenders , new seat, and hondaline 6 pack rack come this week !!! then its icefest bound.
