Cut it and extend it, or 450r rear end.

I'm going with a 450r swinger, about 5 inches longer than stock, in my 480 build.

That completed 480 above is not mine, but shows that it can be done.

I'm also trying to find information on where the frames crack, to add gussets. Want to make sure it's done right from the start, before powder coat.

Apparently Honda had the crankshaft rebalanced for the CR engine's vibrations.

Enginerd from Airfoolers.com

I have an 06 swingarm already, as seen in pic. But I just snagged an axle, carrier, swingarm, caliper mount, rotor, and a few smaller other parts for an 04/05 version.

The only difference between 04/05 and the later ones in the shock position is moved back a little, it's .75" longer also. On a 450r, you'd need the linkage, shock, and swingarm to change between those years.

It's already ~4.5" longer than stock, so I may just use the 05 swingarm/axle set up I just bought (under $150 shipped for it all, less a caliper). Then I'll save my 06 swinger for my 350X.

I should have more info on the machining work done in about a week or less, depending on when I get the parts. I met with the guy who is doing it for me this morning.

so you didnt have to hack up the 450r swinger to fit? my neighbor is looking to extend an 82 250r a few inches as well, the pic of the alum swinger looks nice. so you used a 450r carrier, axle, hubs, shock and linkage?
