Hey guys, well im not sure many of you know, but i've been rebuilding my trike for about a year now, and i thought i was done. Well the chassis rolls now, but now the engine has quit, and wont spark. My uncle took it apart, and found two things; The magneto was grinding and rubbing the flywheel, and basically destroyed that entire area, and my kickstarter wont kick at all anymore and will make a large stripping noise when i try to kick it. Basically, the engine has electrical problems that i dont know how to fix, and i have to take it to a pro-shop to see if its worth it to try and fix it. If not, i may end up buying a working engine, or i will have to end up selling the bike! :( What should i do guys? Got any tips? Also, i was wondering if anyone had a good engine that would last that they would be willing to trade + cash or just sell to me. Well, thanks for any input.

Personally, i would go ahead and fix it. You have spent a year restoring it so why not finish it. You might end up regretting it if you don't. What kind is it?

what is it?

electrical probs are rather easy, everyone just makes it sound intimidating.
if you have been rebuilding you machine i assume that you have a service manual for it...

there are only about 5 items that are used to run the spark

STATOR,PULSE GENERATOR,CDI BOX,COIL,AND KILL SWITCH...
oh yea don't forget the wires themself.
first thing you need to do is get the motor turning over,
(if it is a 200x you might be in luck i have all sorts of parts for them)
then unhook the kil switch,
if still no spark take your coil to a dealer have them test it(free most places).
if it isn't that ohm out the stator coil your book should have the ohm readings in it for the stator
(my 200x and 250r are 100 to 400 ohms to be good).
do the same with the pulse generator.
you can do the cdi box the same way.
if you have to correct readings on all the parts then you have a problem(broken wire or grounded out) in the wireing most likely.

Heh, its a 200x. Umm, my uncle replaced the magneto with the one on his bike, didnt work, same with the CDI box and the pulse generator i believe. He also checked the pulse generator to see if it was putting out anything, and mine wasnt, im not sure if his was, it should cuz his bike works. But yea, any help is appreciated! thanks again!

Where are you located? I have a bunch of 200x motor parts, not to mention all of the know-how to completely overhaul your motor. I should be able to supply most/all of the parts you need to get it fixed, or I could do the work for you at a very reasonable rate if you wanted to go that route. PM or email me and let me know.

This would make a great trike powerplant. Needs a bit of topend valve work, but not too much involved in it. The auction ended, but I still have the engine, I was planning on parting it out completely, but haven't gotten around to it. Let me know. OH CRAP! You are the whole way on the other side of the country. Shipping gonna cost too much I guess.
