I was on ebay and found someone selling a Kawasaki Tecate 84-85 Replica Gas Tank. I thought it would be a good idea to post it here in case someone needs one.

Those are the Clarke repro's that one of their dealers is selling on E-bay. I posted this on the A1/A2 tecate group board and got the same reply you're getting.... Wait...no....you got one more reply than I did....lol... Thanks for the info.
I'll be buying one at some point in black to go with my new white fenders.

The question is WHY? Why did Clark repo the 1st Gen and when I called to ask if they would repo the second gen the guy said they would not do it?? The 86 87 tanks if repoduced would sell for big bucks like the rest of the parts for them . Please call Clark and ask them to make the second generation tanks.Hopefully if we bug them enough they will do it

I think they based it more on numbers sold (84-85 vs 86-87). I don't think it was based on need. That's not to say that the 84-85 Tecate guys aren't in need of a new tank. The green just doesn't hold up in any kind of sun at all. I need one or two. Just waiting for either the price to come down some, or the money tree outside to start producing. The option of going with a different color is nice as well.

Calculated risk –vs- supply/demand, there were more 1’st gen’s produced creating a bigger market for them, yes I understand mint 2’nd gen tanks bring big bucks but they wouldn’t do that once they were being produced again… We can pretend “Clark” is in it for the goodness of the hobby but the reality is they are a business and will only make what makes sense financially to them in the long run… Fabio’s link shows some progress going a route other than Clark that looks promising for the 2’nd gen guys… patience seems to be the “Key” when messing with Tecate’s… Since they aren’t “Red” (red at heart not in color) and didn’t match the numbers Honda put out they tend not to get the same support and in turn it takes a bit more effort to keep them up and running and looking good, it kinda sucks but that’s the reality of owning a trike that wasn’t made by Honda

I know about them already too and knew that everyone else knew they were being produced when I posted. The reason I posted an E-bay link is because it was the cheapest I had found them and wanted to let others know I'd found a price cheaper than direct from Clarke..Is nobody really in the market? Everyone is excited to see them produced but is anybody buying? Is that the real reason nobody is interested in the price posts? Should I be buying mine now because they won't be produced tomorrow because of low demand?

Guys as a part time parts seller I can tell you that the first generation parts not good sellers .There seems to be almost nobody willing to spend money on thier 1st gen tecates .I realize there are probaly 4 times as many 1st generation tecates but I can garentee you that if they would make the 2nd generation tanks they would out sell the 1st generation tanks plus they could sell them for probably 400 a pop . Here is a perfect of example .I sold a 1st gen NOS seat on Ebay a few months ago .I think it closed at 157.00 . The last NOS 2nd Gen went for over 1k .All this being said the 1st generation Tecate may be the best bike to buy if you are on a buget and want a kick ass watercooled machine . The 84 85 Tecate is a great resotoration project as you can get Maier plastics , Clark tank and parts are cheap on ebay .

I think that there are less people that own 84-85 Tecate's looking for NOS parts. I could give a poo about NOS parts to be totally honest with you. Most 84-85 Tecate's that I know of are riders. I'd buy a CEET, Hi-Flite, or one of the Mosh's seats over a $157 NOS seat anyday. However there are NOS parts I would like to own, but they are motor or radiator parts to keep my tecate going. I've seen quite a few 84-85 parts go for quite a bit of money on Ebay recently but they are old school go fast parts. Those are the parts I would be willing to pay big money for..
