I'm wanting to stroke my X after christmas and i'm tryin to find the cheepest/most reliable way. I know that powroll does there's for a little over 200, but i read they get you in the "extra" parts "if" needed.

I seen shorlines stoker engine find. I think that's pretty awesome. But isn't 5mill a little much for a everyday drive? Was using the plate between the case's and the cylinder a simple trick? Like the timing chain, how hard is it to ad link's? How would you find how many you need?

The other option i thought about would be using a crf230 crank. It has a 65.5 mm bore, with a 66.2mm stroke. Thats over 8mm more than the x and the xr. So a little more than four up and down. Powroll's is a 3 mill. So this should be still a little reliable, if not totally. Seeing as how it's a factory item. I've considered using part's from this bike in the past as well. It's the same design and will mount up, like the head has larger valve. But the parts are not as commonly found as xr and x. The crank with the rod can be had around 200 bucks shipped, which isn't bad if it's a factory crank and will go right in.
With the crf crank, you would need to know how they squeezed the extra stroke in it. Weather it be a shorter rod, shorter piston, or maybe a longer cylinder?

Any ideas on these would be nice. I really hope the 230 crank will go in. The crank's look real similar, and i'll post a pic.

thanks

It looks like the crank is a little too wide comparred to the xr and x cranks. The center parts look identical. Anyone ever actually attempted to do this?

i think you would have to get the 230 crank machined down to 200x specs for the flywheel/clutch side. get a complete 230 top end. what would you do about the cam you would need something made so you could use the timing advancer?? you could even get a 251 big bore kit:)

Powroll does not ''get you'' with extera parts if needed. If your parts are trash they will replace them with new. Powroll will not ''save'' you money by squishing a worn out rod....I like that.

Right on! They aren't out to screw you by replacing parts because it feels good. There is no point doing work on worn parts. When I had my 200x crank stroked I sent them all new OEM Honda parts, rod, bearings, thrust washers, ect and had them do the machine work. This allowed me to source the new parts for the cheapest price and get Powroll to do their work at advertised price. My stroker motor is a strong running beast.

So how much does it end up costing at powroll? I would like to go that route, because it is most often done. And i hear there still super reliable? Was there a great difference in yours WIkid? I read the xr200 hopped up to the 218cc stroker kit would keep up with the 250f's of now days. That would be so awesome.

The price is whatever they list on the website for the crank work. I went with their 10.5:1 piston too. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference cause I never rode a stock 200x. But the torque down low is awesome, the thing pulls like a tractor. This summer I did race my friend on his blaster, he has a LRD pipe and carb spacer on it and I took him with the old 200x. It was a pretty good race but I could pull him in each gear. I have an xr carb on mine right now but if the time comes I might try to find a Mic for it.

I'm not shure if you did alot of resaerch on the motor upgrade's but it sound's like you did some but check with Seadoo650 on what mod's were done to his '85 200X.I know he had a stroker in that machine and I gotta tell you it was by far the fastest 200X i have ever come across in all my year's of being a 3 wheeler fanatic. His machine tore up a stock 350X I had a few year's ago,I mean he stomped me and alot of other 350's with his X.If memory serve's me correctly he had poweroll upgrade's in and out on that machine.I remember back in the day white Bros. had phase kit's 1-4 and if you could get ahold of some of those goodie's i'd also highly suggest it.

My older brother ran a 12:1 in mine with a stock crank pipe and carb a long time ago, and it ran like crazy. Of course he did not use race fuel, so it over heated. I can't imagine the amount of power with a stroker and piped, carbed. That will probably have to wait though. I'm thinkin i'll just do the top end and get it where i want it. And in a couple years do the stroker kit. Take it one moddification at a time so i can tell the difference in each.

The faster you wanna go the more expensive it gets. You can dump 1500$ into a 200X motor (then your kicker gears slip ) or just upgrade. Some guys get deals, swaps, buy parts used to fit in and save a ton, but you and me have to do it the hard way, and "retail" is very expensive..........

Fortunately they do still offer the parts and service though.......

That's true, sadly i believe i dropped a gear today. I think fifth. So i'm going to put the x tranny back in it. I really like the way the 6 speed was like an over drive, but there is no way it would hold up. It gave without a load on it.
So, if i happened to find a deal, it would be freakin awesome. But as of now, i'm just redoing the engine, cleaning it up, possibly replacing all the seals, repainting, and all the little things i can do to ensure a lasting engine. I'll try to get pics of the tear down and rebuild, to post up.
If anyone hear's of any deals, pleasee let me know!
